I'm in CA. So, a pre 76 would be nice in that the motor could be greatly modified without having to deal with this crumby state's ridiculous rules.

Mostly a family fun ride. Offroad would be minimal. I have a 72 Sport in mind that's a real nice survivor. Unfortunately, I too am a huge fan of Ranger trim and the later years 73-77. I suppose anything can be modified to suit... This 72 I'm looking at has power brakes (add on) but no power...

For a potential first time EB purchaser, what's the group's opinion on the best year to buy? Also, which trim package is your favorite?

Agreed. Paint job/striping is a Ranger option, if I'm not mistaken, yet has none of the Ranger options (carpet, panels, seats, dash pad, etc). Also, that's not a 77 steering wheel, is it?

You're right. I can only go on what I have been told about mileage. It doesn't look like 180k to me, but you can sometimes never tell. As far as the engine, probably just tuneup and maybe fuel injection down the road. It needs an exhaust update and that's about it. If CA starts rolling the...
