What have you done to your Bronco today?

Is there a break in 71 where the wiring would be different? My 71 has the fuse panel in the glove box, not to the right of the brake pedal.

Speedometer Gear with Dana 20 HD 32 spline rear output

I am now curious about the possibility of the speedometer being recalibrated previously. My initial thought would be that the calibration is done at the transfer case output with the swapping of speedo drive gear, 16t through 22t. I realize there are 6 and 7 tooth gear options on the shaft...

Speedometer Gear with Dana 20 HD 32 spline rear output

I was thinking along similar lines in regard to the rolling radius being irrelevant due to the circumference not changing. Thanks for the insight.

Spray thermal insulation / Sound deadening?

I used to be a LandCruiser nerd and worked for Proffitts Cruisers for years. We made some very nice LandCruisers that people with obscene wealth would sign up for a multi-year wait list to pay a mortgage for a FJ40. Nearly every LandCruiser we built would get the tub lined on the under side...

Speedometer Gear with Dana 20 HD 32 spline rear output

I rebuilt my 302, 3 speed and Dana 20 over the last year and recently got everything back in my 1971 Bronco. During the process, I decided I was finally going to address my speedometer gear being slightly off by swapping the 18 tooth drive gear to the supposed correct 16 tooth. I am running...

Fuel sending unit lock ring tool

Thanks for the info. Thanks for the links. I may be wrong, but I don't see how any of these would work with the tank installed with the cross member there. These would have definitely helped with the initial install with the tank out of the Bronco though.

Fuel sending unit lock ring tool

I made this 8 years ago and didn’t know they existed. Here I thought I was a fart smeller.

Fuel sending unit lock ring tool

My o-ring was a square profile. I ended up using a small about of grease to hold it in place and that helped a ton.

Fuel sending unit lock ring tool

I was digging though my specialty tool drawer last week and found a tool I made and have since forgotten. When I first inherited my Bronco it was in poor condition in nearly every way. The main fuel tank was really rotten and it was one of the first things I decided to replace. I wasn't sure...

Ford 9" forged 1310 yoke longer u-bolt solution

I used to be a mechanic and I noticed over time my skin became much more sensitive to chemicals. My skin started cracking on my knuckles and corners of my nails really bad. I switched to nitrile gloves and now it’s like Of Mice and Men. Smooth hands an no cracking. Plus the gloves help me get...

Ford 9" forged 1310 yoke longer u-bolt solution

I tried to come up with a Spicer solution, but couldn’t. I am sure many others have the same situation with the standard short version. I am not sure which Bronco vendor sold me the forged yoke, but none of them offer the longer u-bolts from what I see.

Ford 9" forged 1310 yoke longer u-bolt solution

Years ago I needed a new yoke for my Ford 9" and ended up with a forged yoke from Yukon. I don't recall who I ordered it from, but at the time I didn't realize there was a difference from the OE yoke that I had. After installation, I noticed the 1310 u-bolts were not sticking through as far as...

What have you done to your Bronco today?

This weekend I was re-installing the Hurst floor shifter on the 3 speed. I don't have a body lift, so I need to install the upper bracket on the Dana 20 after the transmission/transfer case is installed. The two bolts that go through the tail housing adapter require you to stack washers...
