Wild Horses power steering master kit install.

So I just picked up the power steering pump master kit from wild horses. Got it all together but not without some headache. Wanted to post here about my experience, not to dissuade anybody but to inform others of some of the things you may run into. First, when I went to install the pulleys...

Steering box hitting body mount bracket

I ended up trimming that ear to fit as well. I didn’t check the crossmember clearance, I can check tomorrow though! Also running into an issue with how large the nut for the pitman arm is, it’s huge haha. Bigger than 1-1/2” which is the largest socket in my collection so heading to the parts...

Steering box hitting body mount bracket

Installing a wild horses master power steering kit and having issues getting everything lined up. The steering box is hitting the bracket for the front body mount before I can rotate it into position, I can get 1/3 bolts lined up, bottom left or right, but it won’t rotate counter clockwise...

Let me see if I can find it, they don’t offer the wheels in this configuration anymore I know but I’ll see if I can find my purchase link.

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

37x12r17 but they list it as a 9” tread width, and yes 17” bead grip method wheels

Been a busy couple of weeks, I’ve been trailering the bronco to my welding class and am very close on finishing the rear bumper. I’ve been working on getting the sliders in and while there’s still plenty of welding left to do, it’s close and they’re at least in place. Got the exhaust sorted...

https://dufftuff.com/product/power-steering-conversion-kit-1966-77-bronco/#optional-power-steering-bracket https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/early-bronco-power-steering-conversion-kit Looking at these 2 kits and trying to decide between them. Duffs is closer in terms of shipping speed. Any major...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

Got the tire carrier put back together today. Apparently the cut and torch was a bit much. Gotta get the top to pull up a little now to get the fraction of clearance I’m hoping for. Started working on my cooler mount. The bracket is only tacked on for now until I finalize the location. Trying to...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

I was stretching 1.5-2” forward so when I cut the factory buckets out, I left a small lip on the bottom to line the buckets up with the bottom of the frame and then measured forward 1.5-2” from the back edge of the remaining bit of coil bucket. Helped keep me within a fraction of an inch for...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

Got my tow rig stuck in the back yard today troubleshooting some trailer brakes. So the bronco got a little workout pulling her out. Went to my welding class today and working on getting the swing arm on the tire carrier to pull down a little more and got the spare tire rest/skid started. Still...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

Worked on the bronco a bit more today. Cut the passenger rocker out to work on getting it ready for the sliders. Test fit it up. Got my WH flares in today and started mocking them up. I’m thinking I want to go to the body line so that I have the room to clear 40s eventually if I decide to. Just...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

This was rustoleum lagoon spray paint with a 2k clear spray paint over top. If I did it again i don’t know that I’d do the 2k clear anywhere other than maybe the front fenders/fuel filler area to protect the paint from fuel/oil since it’s parked in my garage if I’m not on the trails.

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

Big update and lots of photos. Got some 37" Sx-2 tires for this upcoming trip. Got them mounted and something didn't seem right with the axle. Kept tinkering and it seemed to be about 1-1/2" off on the passenger side. Cut the bracket off and rewelded it and kept going. Fought with reassembly a...

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

There is a seal for the bottom. My instructor uses it and it isn’t messy outside of the housing.

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

Ended up cutting the bumper stubs off to correct the angle of the swing arm. Previously it was parallel to the floor but that meant it was drastically off from the line of the tailgate. Since I’m planning to put a table for eating lunch on the trails or working on stuff on the trails I wanted it...

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

That last part has been my motto through most of my self taught welding. A lot of it may not have been pretty. But it’s all held together. That’s the whole reason I’m doing the class is trying to get better form. I appreciate the advice!
