    DIY bumper/tire carrier

He’s a younger guy in his 30s like me haha, funny you say that. Not saying you are wrong. He has been teaching me to tighten my bead up vs the big fat welds I used to do and has taught different patterns to use depending on position. (Push pull, spirals/loops, arcs or zigzag. Good eye! The welds...

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

These were welded flat, my welder is a Vulcan 215, the only adjustments on the unit are wire speed (A-G), wire size (0.25-0.35), and metal thickness. It has a synergy light that makes sure I’m not overdoing it but that’s it. Is funny you say to push haha, I’ve push welded my entire life. The...

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

Some pictures of what I have so far. The bumper hangs down just a hair from the shape of the frame horns, not sure if I’m going to cut and adjust or let it be and taper the tire carrier to match the rear profile. Still need to extend the swing out but got a fancy latch from a jeep style tire...

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

I'd love to see what others have built to keep their tire safe and low, but on the outside of the vehicle. Unfortunately with a 37 and a kid coming, in the bed of the bronco isn't a good choice anymore.

NC North Durham: Early Bronco parts garage sale....coming soon in early October...

I love that the scammer just photoshopped in a piece of paper with their information on it though. Classic.

    DIY bumper/tire carrier

Started taking a welding/offroad fabrication class at the local community college. I've been welding for a decade now, but mostly self taught. I figured some actual instruction wouldn't hurt. As part of the class we are doing a couple of welding projects. The two I decided to do are to build a...

    1973 front turn signal

Im converting everything to deutsch waterproof connectors. The drivers side had the 3 wires and the passenger side only had 2 for some odd reason. Still the style of the 69 and up turn signal just no ground wire.

    1973 front turn signal

Yeah this one was only 2 wires, just odd when they were different from each other. Ended up grounding a stud on the mounting hardware and it works properly now. Thanks!

    1973 front turn signal

This is what I ended up doing. It was just odd that they were different and with it on the truck I was unable to efficiently ground the housing to make it work. Once I had it off and cleaned off the threads it worked like expected, though still only had 2 wires vs, the other one which had 3...

    1973 front turn signal

Working on removing the bezel to see if there's a broken wire or something but in the meantime has anybody seen something like this?

    1973 front turn signal

Rewiring a friend 73 and getting to the front lights. Did the drivers side with no issue, 3 wire light, park, ground turn, easy. Went to the passenger side and the front turn signal light (not the side marker) only has 2 wires. What appear to be a park light (tan/brown) and a ground (black) I’ve...

Full width Dana 44 ball joint preload help

I had the original ones from the axle and with the knuckle removed they didn’t drop down as far on the ball joint so I reinstalled by feel on the arm looking for tension but able to move freely. Everything seems to work now but it was a frustrating couple of days trying to figure out what I was...

Full width Dana 44 ball joint preload help

Looking for some help. Was installing my knuckles on my full width swap last night and got to the preload nut. The best instructions I found that seemed to get me close was to use the top ball joint with no nut in to pull the bottom ball joint into place. Torque to 80 foot pounds. Remove top...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

Got the axle line up as best as I can with what’s left on the frame. Got the steering mocked up and burned one of the coil buckets in. Coming along slowly. Still need to remove the coil and check articulation for steering clearances. Assuming I’ll need to shave the front crossmember and plate it...

    1970 Bronco Wheeler

Been working an hour here and there to get the Full widths swapped in and long arms. Got all the old brackets installed and got the duff extended radius arms tacked in place roughly 1.5" further forward than the stock location measurement. Just picked up some plumb bobs to take some measurements...

Wedge style caliper to slide pin caliper conversion?

Had to update my contributor status. Couldn’t figure out why I was unable to upload photos when I started the thread. Here’s some photos of what I’m working with. Looks like the “old” 44 is a 5 bolt setup, but the spindle threads into the knuckle vs sliding on studs like my full width does. An...

Wedge style caliper to slide pin caliper conversion?

Well dang, not really what I was hoping for haha. I’ve already drilled out my full width knuckles for the TRO inserts and have all my bearings and rotors for my new setup. Now that I’m looking at the “original” 44, I see it has bolts for the spindle instead of studs telling me right away...
