What's the quietest 3.5in?

I'm finally driving my Bronco and it's simply too loud. I have to wear earplugs or my ears ring for hours after driving.

Quick background on the setup:
Engine is a 427ci Windsor based with a very aggressive cam and full stand alone ecu.

I have the Bronco Hut 1-5/8" primary shorties and I made everything after that. After the headers I'm running 2.5in OD tubing that merges into a single 3.5in out to the back. I have a single 3.5in Flowmaster muffler on the end but it's just not enough.

I'm thinking of adding an inline resonator or a better muffler? Looking for any advice. I did some searching but not sure how many have a setup like this. Maybe Scoop has some ideas?

Thanks for any help.

I've got shorties, nothing like the powerplant you have. But switching from the flowmaster to a magnaflow certainly quieted things down a bit....

Hey, wanted to share a good dyno test using muffler types. Check out Engine Masters from motortrend. Search muffler shootout - might learn a brand that meets your hp and noise requirements. I think some of their shows are on you tube also. Worth a shot.

I have the flowmaster 40's....I believe a lot of owners were happy with the flowmaster Delta 50's for a quiter sound but a nice rumble when you want it.

After putting flowmasters on the 66 I wanted something quieter on the 72. I went with the borlas. Lower tone like an 80s mustang. I think they were a little shorter than the others and all stainless for durability. If we do the swap meet you can hear the difference.

I am running a Walker 41200 and I love it. It is a little long but it is super quite (to me that is).

Walker quietflow 21400. They're built to flow 454 ci and they have 2 intakes and 1 output so you don't need the "Y" before the muffler.

Thanks for the input guys. Unfortunately the series 50 flowmaster with 3.5" inlet is 22" long and that just won't fit. It's tight in the back where I have it currently mounted.

Wow that is super tight. I have mine mounted between the transfer case and the fuel tank. Not sure what "quite" options are out there for limited space. Sorry.

Try calling spintech and see what they can build you, theres a 1200hp Larry Minor jeep that was at the dunes here in Michigan with a single muffler that met the sound check requirements. They can build custom to fit the space you have.

For quite I would recommend an appropriately sized turbo muffler. Not sure if there's any hp or flow restrictions with them, but I kind of doubt it.
