You guys are trying too hard.
Duals with factory type mufflers and an "H" pipe. It's hard to imagine anything quieter.
Or cheaper.

Surprisingly I never owned a 302 car, but have owned 2 351 cars. I found that the same exhaust system in a car is far quieter than in a short 4X4 like an EB. The longer a system is, the quieter it is. A V8 equipped luxury SUV like the Navigator or Escalade would serve as a good design pattern and possible parts source for a quiet EB exhaust system. Both clearly flow adequately, to allow 400+ HP, and having been a pedestrian standing near the back bumpers, I can say that if my EB were as quiet, I'd be happy. I also looked underneath and saw resonators near the tail pipe tip on the Navigators. The whole system also appears to be stainless steel, making the used parts attractive for EB transplants.

Good point. It makes sense that longer pipes would be quieter.
I've heard that a smaller tailpipe is used because the exhaust volume is reduced as it cools, so a large size isn't necessary. That makes it quieter too.

What's the world coming to;D, when you want to make your bronco as quiet as a limo. It a bronco, it want's to be heard. I run a huge muffler on my dodge and it's not quiet .

Forums are a funny place to ask for advice.
Very often the advisors are just defending a decision they won't admit was wrong.
Exhaust systems are a perfect example of this.

Hey 76 bronco J, where did you get that air cleaner and the duck work that comes of the air cleaner? That look's just like the set up, my son has on his 5.0 trans am, and we can't find the duck work that come off the two snorkels. Looked all over for the duck work and it's been discontinued, for the 85 trans am 5.0 HO.FOUND ONE ON EBAY AND THEY WANTED A ARM AND A LEG FOR IT.

That look's just like the set up, my son has on his 5.0 trans am, and we can't find the duck work that come off the two snorkels. ... My Hunting Buddy has his exhaust 2 into 1 then into a big muffler.. Then back to the back. The guy at the Muffler shop has done all his work. Motor trans & Exhaust.
.. So Before we go hunting in New Mexico Muffler Dude adds a resonator muffler at the back of his Bronco. He made 2 bracket to hold it in place . We've not knocked it off in about 4 years. When we get home he removes it.
... It's somewhat quiter.

'82 version won't fit with stock hoods & body mounts ,but does clear the stock throttle pivot arm... might fit with 1" body lift & certain combo of parts... That's great information, I looked on the Ebay site you posted and the great prices on the Intake Hose. When we looked for the hose, just for his 85 trans am, the price range was $200 to $300, just for those Intake Hose's , I couldn't believe what they were asking.

My 393 with 3" super single exhaust was loud. But it was short and straight. I exited over the frame and put the turbo muffler directly under the passenger side floor board. Wrapped the head pipes and made a heat shield above the muffler. I couldn't stand it. I bought a long glass pack that had only holes in the tube not anything sticking into the flow, and It was quite enough built not what i really would have liked.

Problem is sound is attenuated in a lot of ways. Smaller pipes alone will quieten the exhaust, extra bends will as well. Unfortunately the quietest systems also tend to be the most restrictive. To get a relatively nonrestrictive system to be quiet requires a little more engineering knowledge than most people have. Heck a high lift short duration roller cam with headers will make more noise than any flat tappet cam. because the exhaust pulse relative to the total flow can be so short that it sounds like a tractor, and the exhaust system needs to be designed to cancel the pulses. without a full knowledge of how to quieten an exhaust stream the only cheap alternative is to just restrict the heck out of it so the individual pulses are forced to blend. Because of the way my exhaust runs outside the frame rail it is practically a straight shot from the connection of the two head pipes to the outlet under the bumper. It took a 2-1/2" glass pack and pipe downstream of the 3" turbo muffler to quieten it down. A 3" glass pack did virtually nothing, because it was for all practical purposes just a straight pipe. But my cam coupled with short runs of tubing is the issue in my Bronco.
