Time for an update.

I did take the plunge and ordered some 15x8" Slotted wheels. They are the US Mags with 4" backspacing. I mounted my current 31x10.50 BFG KM2s under the WH 3 1/2" Suspension lift. They are not nearly as close as I had anticipated. There is plenty of room for a street driven truck. May rub a little/slightly if bouncing around a lot.

What I do like is the slightly wider track going to the 8" compared to the previous 6" wheel. The 8" wheel makes the tire look a lot wider/bigger as well.

This is what they look like with Rear Uncut fenders and Off Road Bumper with Tire Carrier.

Looks fantastic. Great choice of wheels and tires.
Keep us posted on how it works in the daily grind. But so far, looks like a winner.

Oh, and how hard does it rub the radius arms when turning sharply? Or does it rub at all?
Of course, that's not really a huge problem. Not only does it (usually) not hurt anything even while sounding horrific, but it can be adjusted out with the steering stops.

But I'm curious how close they get anyway, and if you have to adjust the stops.

Thanks, I like the look. Would be a little more lift without the Off Road Bumper / Tire Carrier / Tire. About 150lbs extra I would guess.

Took it for a spin after the install and drove great with NO issues. I will test the steering lock-to-lock and see if it rubs.

Damn you rguest...I already had lust in my heart with the old wheels and tires and this is just too much ;) I want my next one to look just like this, but protofab bumpers and yellow houndstooth seat covers.

surfer-b, gritz - Thanks - Even though it will be restored probably this summer, it will remain original looking. I will only add Early Bronco Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes and a rebuilt motor.

Not sure if I will change the color to Pebble Beige (also 69 color) or keep the Empire Yellow.

Got the 15x8s at Tire Kingdom within a week and at a better price too.

US Mags does not list 15x7 in the correct bolt Pattern anymore. Interesting BC still has them.

Can you give us the model number of the rim you got? I've got a connection at Tire Kingdom so I'd be interested if I can get them cheap.

Tire Kingdom will have the US Mags Catalog. Even has Broncos on the Page for the Slotted Baja Wheels. They only list the 15x8 and I think 15x9 in the Truck version (U101 Maybe?) with 5x5.5 Bolt Pattern.

Hi all I'm just getting back into the game with a extremely stock and clean 69 that's uncut and no lift. I want the old slotted mags and I'm having trouble finding what will fit under the fenders. I tried 15x8 and 4inch BS but they rubbed, next I'll go with some 15x7 and 3 3/4 inch back space and 108 center bore (U10115708537) and 235 75 r15 Goodyear Wranglers. Has anyone done this combo and fit? Below is what I'm after and a list of US-Mag wheel sizes. The 15x7s are on back order right now. By the way Summit Racing sells them with free shipping...
I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, seems like the right place for the slotted mag and uncut talk.
Thanks
Todd

I have done some looking into those 15x7 slots and they are the ones used in car applications. The center opening is not large enough to fit over the hub on the front. Also the center cap is the small cone style that bolts on from the outside. I don't think the smallest size USmag offers for a Bronco is the 15x8

The listed part number has the 108mm hole. Anyway, looking to talk to someone who has tried the 15x7 with the 3 3/4 backspace with the 5mm offset.

66 Bronco Uncut with new wheels and tires.

I am in the process of doing my 66 uncut bronco right now and just went through this effort. Here is what i got. dick cepik 15 x8 torque wheel with black center and installed Cooper Discover AT3 265x70x 16 tires, They are 31,50 in high and 10.50 wide and they fit perfectly on my 66 with 3 inch body lift no other lifts. What's the backspace spec on those Cepek's cool66?

How far off were the 15x8's you tried tpgroceman? Pretty close, to the point that something similar with a 4.25 or 4.5 backspace might have worked? Or would that just not be quite enough?
I use 15x7's myself, but have cut fenders, so no help from here unfortunately. But have a friend with 15x8 ProComps (of unknown backspace) that just clear with 31's. They "look" like they don't have much backspace because of the deep look, but I don't know what they compare to. His does have a lift, but that's not usually the key in clearing the back fenders. It's backspace/offset as you found out.

How bad did they rub? Maybe a tiny bit of gentle "clearancing" of the rear fenders perhaps? Almost hate to recommend that, but if the 7's are going to be on backorder for a long time, it might be one way of getting back on the road.

Good luck.

Paul,
The Torque wheels were 4.5 back space and 0 offset and I made a mistake they were 16x8 wheels not 15x8. As you mentioned to me a few weeks back I may need to add stopper to keep the wheel from rubbing the inside but that had been done on mine prior so everything worked great. However, I have yet to get her on the road to give it a real test. So far just dry fitting.
