Awesome! Great to hear. I thought they looked pretty good from the pictures on their website but since they were never mentioned here it's great to have someone actually buy them and see first hand. My concerns with the popular names mentioned most often here were more about the wrapping material and layout then wire color but nice to hear that the Dennis carpenter ones are really close in all respects.. Thanks!!

I just received the Dennis Carpenter 66 Bronco Dash Harness and Engine Bay Harness. These look amazing and look to be spot on for being original. I will compare tomorrow with my Original 66 Harness.

C6TZ-14290-a C6TZ-14401-AU , Are these the only two harness needed from dennis carpeter

The first one is for the engine bay, the second one is for the dash. Unfortunately there is a third you will need that they don't offer. It goes from the dash to the rear of the vehicle, has fuel sender, rear brake, rear turn and license plate light. You will have to custom build this one.

Does anyone know if the engine bay harness is for the 6 cylinder or the V8?

Good question. I wonder what the actual differences were between them. If any…

Since the v8 was not introduced to late in the model year (March 1966 ?). Most of the 66 bronco's would have had a 6 cylinder harness. The only difference that might have been need would be for the leads on the coil power, oil pressure and water temp due to position on the engine.

I just emailed Carpenter to confirm. But it appears that the engine bay harness is the six cylinder version, as the listing says up to SN 830,001, which is the March 1966 timeframe that the 289 was introduced.

They don't have the serial number restriction on the under-dash harness, but the 289's harness contains the ammeter current loop wire within the harness and is not the separate heavy-gage wire that can be seen in their photo. So, probably useable for a V8, just needs some modification.

Curiously, they don't list a 1967 harness, and the 1968 harness uses the correct firewall connectors, but still does not indicate if it is the six or V8 style....

I'm digging into this because someday I will need a 1966 V8 harness and don't want to do a universal harness on that one.

Remember that over the years, tons of people have removed their 6 cyl and dropped in a 8 cyl with no issue. One of the later year wiring experts should chime in, but I don't think Ford made separate wiring harnesses between 6 and 8. I think later years had a separate adapter for the engine senders that plugged into the harness. The large wire difference it probably just the evolution between model years. One of the other contributors that is more famialr with mid years harnesses can probably add more to this.
