I’m in the process of painting my U-14.

I got Wimbledon white for the wheels, bumpers, grille and top. Today I shot it on some of the pieces. It looks good, but I sure seems to me that the top used to be a brighter white. I don’t have any good shots of it, but the ones I do seem to show it whiter than Wimbledon.

I did find a color card that has a Pure White chip on it, which looks closer to what I remember on the top than Wimbledon. The photo says 1965, but the 66 card referred back to the 65 for PureWhite.

Here is a before and after shot of the grille, and to me, it looks like a good match. These are the best shots I have of the top in what I’m nearly 100% is it’s original paint.

I may get some Pure White mixed up for the top, and give it a try. Or I may just use Wimbledon.

What do you think?

Wimbledon White is the correct color from the factory.

He speaks the truth. I think the grill looks good I have seen some Wimbledon white's have to much yellow in it. I guess the guy mixing it or different brands but yours looks good to me just paint the ford letters black and your good . Carry on don't second guess it . Here is Wimbledon white wheels , top , bumpers , and grill

I agree WW. I think it will look "more white" after you get the new body color on.

I painted my WW first, then my body color. The next time I paint a grill, I will paint the body color first, then the WW. I think it might be easier to tape the grill off. For sure, use the 3M "fineline" (blue plastic) masking tape. It's well worth the extra $20.

What do you think?

Go with what makes it yours.. Even if it's not the original Wimbledon white :)

That’s how I did it, green first and white over it. Seemed like the easiest way to me. Yep, that fineline tape is great.

Remember when looking at your top in original paint it was 55 years old.....so it may have been faded or sun bleached giving it a different look then when it left the factory.....by the way your truck is looking great!!!! Can’t wait to see it finished!! Keep up the great work!!

It’s Wimbledon White, and I think it looks pretty good.

Thanks, yeah I was overthinking a bit. Oxidation and sun fading would whiten it quite a bit.

Are you gonna go with the 66 Gray Dash and Door Panels with the Silver Interior as well?
