1968 bronco help needed

I need to have my 68 broncos brakes fixed. I started to pull the front wheels off and just realized I don’t have the time as I was fighting like heck to get the hubs and drums off. sadly. Anyone know if a good reliable shop in Atlanta that can help rebuild my brakes

Is there is a good diy out there? Maybe try to tackle it again this weekend. Not even sure.

Appreciate the help.

I would suggest converting the front to disk brakes. A capable mechanic or if you’re up to the task could do it. The vendors sell complete kits and would greatly improve your braking.

Yeah I have looked at kits, I want to keep it original. Maybe dumb…..

Just looking for a shop to tackle the front brakes for now. I might just dive back into it.

lots of DIYers on the WWW. nothing special about the front drums. if you dont have time, any reputable shop should be able to tackle this and as Speedrdr mentioned, Yelp reviews will help. Your bronco looks nice! i'd have a hard time trusting anyone working on it unless it was beyond my mech skills.

At least not easily. The design almost dictates that you service the wheel bearings at the same time you do the brakes. Which is not really a bad habit to get into the older vehicles anyway.
You need a few general small tools, a couple of snap ring pliers, and a very specific spanner socket that fits over the wheel bearing adjusting and locknuts.
Those are all inside the lockout mechanism otherwise known as the locking hubs. Those have to come off before you take off the drums and hubs as an assembly.
Everything is like normal.

I couldn't agree more!! Unless you grew up knowing about the servicing of the bearings, you probably wouldn't know the importance of it. It was just part of the brake job growing up! I make a habit of checking the rears as well when I do the rear brakes. Mine are sealed but never hurts to get a good look at them. I replace the rears every 60k or so. Not hard or expensive for the peace of mind!
