Finally got my bronco back on the road and was able to take a 400+ mile one day road trip on back roads in NC to test it out.
I put the motor in as I stated a while ago and ended up with a bad rear main seal leak. Listening to a buddy and the internet I took the transmission and transfer case out to fix it. I thought it would be easier than pulling the motor but quickly realized that isnt the case. Ive never messed with a Ford motor before but now I know better. A friend came over and gave me crap about pulling everything apart but helped me get a new rear main in, this time tilting the seams at an angle, and reinstall everything else.
For now everything seems to be okay but has a few minor issues to figure out. I have an electric fuel pump just below the rear main tank. (auxillary tank not hooked up right now) If I would let the bronco sit idling while I was fueling up or taking pictures it would warm up and as I would drive off it would buck and pop as if it was starving for fuel. My guess is it is a case of vapor lock and fuel is evaporating out of the stainless line above the intake before getting to the carb. Anyone else experience this issue? I was thinking I could wrap the line in something, maybe header wrap?, to help keep the heat off the line.
