Anybody have a copy of December 1973 Four Wheeler laying around?
Not sure if there is anything of value in there, but there is a write up
on Jeepers Jamboree Seventy-Three...

Unfortunately it has a crappy 80's pull out tape deck
that they hacked the dash for, so I think I will just put a modern DIN size
CD/MP3/Sirius unit in it to make driving more pleasurable for the family. ;)

One option is to go with a Custom Autosound unit like I did, which will fill the DIN hole but look like an old shaft-style radio. (My dash cuts were for a shaft radio, which allowed me to use a vintage faceplate. You can get a version that just mimics the look of a shaft radio.)

I got it through my buddy's shop. He does a lot of work with vintage Porsches, and can do whatever you need.

Good eye! Have one on order from Marti.
That quarter panel has been repaired previously.
You can see the white isn't quite right either, it should look like this:

For reference, here is a pic of Mark Beck's BWR logo.
There is only one VIN between mine and his.

Also To note, notagains BajA, was sold at placerville 5 days or so ahead of Houses. Both have rocker armor from Stroppe, as does Becks. Becks was sold in sebastapol I believe, but I will double check my dates for all 3. Interesting is that all 3 had different variations of pushbar available t the time; black standard, chrome cactus, orange cactus.

I can double check but I don't think there's anything in there on the Broncos.

Cool info. I like the look of the cactus smasher better than the standard,
but that's probably because that is what I have seen more of. I am sure
this one will grow on me more as time goes by... Do you know if the standard
on Dennis Carpenters was originally silver or was it a black one like mine?

Thanks guys!

Where was yours sold, Brewer?

Frank Coletto Ford
San Pedro, Ca

Mine is often called the Gravel Grabbers Bronco because of the stickers on each side under the Baja stickers. Gravel Grabbers was the off road parts business at Fairway Ford in Placienta Ca. If you hear of or see anything about Gravel Grabbers I would love to know more about it.

Cheers, David A

Awesome, thanks for the pics guys.
Man Gary, I would kill to see a pic of our rigs together on the
dealer lot, or better yet on the 'Con...
I wish mine had an easier life and was all original paint still, but
then again if it was, I probably wouldn't want to drive it!

House, your Baja was IN the showroom when purchased and there were no other Bajas or standard Broncos left.

I'm tellin ya, those darn Cactus Smashers must have been why the other two sold first! Hmm, either that or they saved the best for last! They probably didn't want to take it out once they got it inside, so those ones outside with the funky chrome and red tube bumpers hit the road first... ;D
I can't wait for the day that some Rubicon pics with the trio show up though.

Still looking for Jamboree 73 info for my Baja, but found this blip on 72.
Looks like Bill Stroppe was even there! I wonder if he was driving a Baja from Placerville Ford?

Bill had broken his leg prerunning in Baja with Parnelli in Parnelli's van sometime earlier.

Well, I found my issue in the shed tonight but 2-3 pages of the article are mysteriously missing....hmm...ah well, I hope you have better results with the copy you purchased.
