Go to Cherrybomb.com or youtube. There are tons of videos of this muffler.

Yup -went to youtube first. Did not really find anything that was similar to running it on our rigs. Thought maybe you could post up a video clip of it on the bronco you mentioned.

I am finishing up a BC kit right now. Easy install so far.

Chuck was great presale and took me to some good videos where I could listen to the pitch and tone and select which muffler I wanted.

How about a link?

I have long tube headers with 2 1/4 pipes to a Flowmaster 50. 3 inch tailpipe exits behind the pass rear tire. Nice and quite on the road but still has a good sound. I was running Flowmaster duals before. Now I have a 2 1/2 gal air tank mounted where the other muffler used to be for my OBA.

Are there any video as with the quieter version muffler? I have the BC headers and 2into1 with the standard Magnaflow muffler and the setup is too loud for me. What is the quieter Magnaflow muffler option?

Also what about the Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler 87757? According to Cherry bomb the turbo muffler is the quietest option compared to the Vortex.

Turbo is quieter than the Vortex, but Turbo is also way more restictive.

Let's beat this dead horse a bit more!

Since starting this thread, I have spent hours going through old threads and listening to hundreds of Youtube muffler soundbites. I even called BC and talked with Chuck who was very helpful.

I have a few things to accomplish with this swap.
1) Headers that fit better
2) A little less noise and get rid of the Drone
3) Get the exhaust out of the way of my springs and other moving parts under the Bronco.

What I have:

351w EFI, C4, WH 4 1/2" lift, 2" BL
Current Exhaust is OldSchool long tube headers from K bar S (Headman maybe?) that goes into 2 1/4" or maybe 2 1/2" Duals with Flowmaster 40's. Tail pipes exit behind rear wheels and get caught up in the springs when I flex it.

I want the BC headers for sure. Local muffler shops are quoting about $450 to build what chuck sells (2 into 1 with Magnaflow) for $200 less. The only thing I get extra for the $200 is a tailpipe and someone else does the labor.

Now, I think the Magnaflow is going to be loud and have too much drone for my taste. My thought is to go with BC headers and pipes then use a different muffler. This is where I'm stuck. The Walker muffler that has been discussed sounds like a nice option but may be too quiet (Couldn't find a sound bite)and could restrict flow? I have also thought about a longer (Maybe round ) Magnaflow or possibly just a good old Turbo Muffler. I also listened to the Cherrybomb Vortex but would like to hear it on a Bronco. Once again I find myself with a case of analysis paralysis. All Suggestions and possible Solutions are welcomed. I have also read pages of drone solutions using resonator chambers but would rather not have to go that route.

Are you able to make your own?

I too have a unique setup, long-tube headers and NV3550 which is incompatible with virtually every aftermarket exhaust system. So I had to build my own 2 into 1 system. It's the same muffler and gist as the BCB kit with customized 2.5" lead pipes to work around the NV3550 crossmember. My bender won't fit 2.5" pipe so it's stitched together using the pre-bent pieces.

Cascade,

Why don't you buy Chucks system minus the muffler. Install it, then take to a muffler shop and have them test a few mufflers until you find one to your liking.

Then have them put the muffler on and build tailpipe as per your specs.

Should save you a few bucks over having them do the entire thing, and allow you to get exactly what you want.

I believe that is what I will do. So far, I have not been able to find a shop that will let me test different mufflers on it before I buy. I had an idea this morning of just ordering the BC kit less the Magnaflow then using a y into one of my existing Flow masters. That would get me on the road until I find exactly what I want. I could also use a cheap turbo in the short term.

I imagine you might have better luck with a smaller, locally owned shop. When I had mine done, He built it all up including the tail pipe, then slipped a few different mufflers that they had in stock and sitting on the shelf in and let me listen to them.

Once I selected the one I wanted, he cut the tailpipe the length, assembled everything, and welded it all up.

The whole experience probably only added 15 to 20 minutes to his time spent doing the install and made me one happy customer!

I also listened to the Cherrybomb Vortex but would like to hear it on a Bronco. .

Where did you find a sound clip of that? I just bought one of those for my son's '76 but its a while before we'll hear that engine run.

To see if it helps put a 3"x2"? reducer on the end of the pipe of the exhaust you have now and see if the sound is better. If not get the bigger muffler.

Thanks chuck, I just called in and ordered the Headers and Pipes from you about 30 minutes ago. Thanks for your help on the phone the other day.

Check this out if you hate drone... http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?muffler=vt

Check it out if you want to hear what it sounds like also-right on there website. They are louder than the Turbos which I ran for almost 16 yrs.

S/S, check the flow rates if you need the cfm, sure outflows the competition-check the specs. Sound great, I'm running dual V/T's

Go with a local shop so they can let you try different mufflers/sounds/performance. I worked with, stood by, cut pipe, etc for my local shop. We spent 7 hrs working on my rig using 2 1/2" pipe for duals and I supplied all the mandrel bends for $200 cash. I supplied the V/T's and the S/S quick release clamps for easy removal.

I would have a Muffler shop fab the exhaust for you. Using your favorite Headers then I suggest a Dynomax Super Turbo or a Gibson Muffler. Both sound like a nice V8 when you get on it, but very mellow when cruising.

I currently run a healthy 351W with Hooker 3/4 length headers, 2 1/2" pipes going into the Gibson Muffler and a single 3" pipe outlet.... Perfect combination of power and nice deep mellow sound and NO drone at all.
