carb hits hood
Would a hood scoop help resolve this issue even though the carb is mounted more towards one side?
Sure would but that might end the opportunity for a windshield drop (unless it's a low scoop) when wanted. I need that for getting 2 some of my job sites (ster. wheel is highest point & I have a '78 FSB 'tilt' 2 put in given X & $ for some of the jobs later). However a
scoop can go anywhere, U just should look 1st to C if U can avoid cutting too many of the supports that cross the underside of the hood. U don't need much room & could even center it & the 'tail area' of the slope on it would still give U enuff room. Just tilt the hood back outta ur way & you'll C how much U need. Measure the hight w/cardboard or an arched piece of strapin you've flexed enuff to rep the true hood clearance.
The only tower & mount I can C is in pic "3 of 5" & it looks standard. May B a
Maverick tower is lower. Some "hard mount" to reduce hight, I wouldn't. U can also
'slot' the tower (elongate the bolt hole vertically lower). I also wouldn't move the
motor backward but some do that to gain hood space.
Look into
lower carbs. There R several options for me w/the 250. Not sure if as low as RBS but Autolite 1100/01 seem lower than ur YF but IS 4 ur app.
BL
and SL will help (the SL surprised me) either or both (all that's needed is 1 inch).
Lastly (may B), is
another stock, fabed or store bought
a/c. I have 1 (OEM) that is only 3/8 inch high (or so) that mounts offa peg from the engine beside the valve cover.
We can go on to more esoteric and expensive but PM me 4 that if needed after U try the above. This should B enuff 4 ya.
So there's 8 ideas, as I said on frd6 'deze bronks have notoriously low hoods' and a combo of all or several of the above will do U juss fahn.
Good luck - keep us informed how yado.
