That lll be enough bragging for one day!!;D;D;D

Since it is a new day... I also have not 1 but 2 24x30 garages at my disposal. I hope to turn one of them into a temporary paint booth here real soon ;D;D

I have today off work so I am going to get a good 8 hours in on the tub with no distractions. If I can find a working camera, I'll even take some pics!

Today I got in a long day working on the Bronco. I started the day off finishing up the front door post, both the bumps on the face of the post were rotted so I had to replace them. Then I worked on fixing the inner fender where the outer fender welds to. And while I was at it I welded the bolt holes along the bed rail shut. Then I moved on to the floor which took most of my day. I did a lot of welding up holes I bet I filled 150 holes in just the floor alone. I don’t know why so many holes are needed in the floor of a Bronco….. Then after I took a break for supper I went back and started welding stuff I missed on the passenger side. It was a pretty long day I started at about 9 am and finished up at about 8:15pm. Tonight I will go to bed and dream of a day when all this welding is finished so I can move on to something else…. Anything else will do!

Here are some pics….

It's lookin' great man!!! I'm with you on the metal work. Though I hate the amount of welding that's involved, cleaning the welds with the grinder tests my patience at times. To me, the sound of a Dewalt 4 1/2" grinder is worse than my alarm clock after a night of heavy drinkin'.

My work quality severly suffers after about twelve hours. That's when I put my tools down. I will go past that if I'm hoping to get it ready for a trail run or show, but make damn sure a triple check the work the next day.

You must have alot of down time or crank at your disposal;D.

I might be testing how long I can work as soon as this weekend. My wife and most of my kids have plans all weekend long.;D. I will have all night Friday thru Sunday morning to work on the Bronco. I really want to get this tub done soon so I can do a final media blast on it and finish the POR15 so it will quit flash rusting.

Work is slow so I have the next 2 Tuesdays off work I hope to have some primer on the tub at the end of the second Tuesday.

At the end of a long work day, my work quality is ok but mY decision making suffers. thats when I tend to get sidetracked and know it is time to put up.

Looking good. Btw. You suck! I might have less rust than you but you have more time than me. You will be done sooner. Plus there is no media blasters around here.

I will be driving it at some point this year I started tearing it apart on July 3, 2011. I don’t want it to take more than a year to get back on the road. I am optimistic right now but we will see how things go from here.. I have no experience with body work/painting and no desire to pay someone to do it for me…. so I’m not too sure how that part of the build is going to go. I have already taught myself how to media blast and weld since I started this project so I don’t think basic body work and basic painting techniques are out of my scope of capabilities.

As for all the time I have….Well for some reason I have more right now than I usually do so I am taking advantage of it to the fullest.

Thanks Bill!

Talk about not gong as planned.... The last 4 days my whole family has been sick. I couldn’t even stand up most of the weekend let alone work on a Bronco. I did however get a text message from a certain Bronco Brother labeled "Bronco Progress".
I could not believe my eyes when I opened the pics. It appears that Bill came over and worked on it for me while I was sick. I am truly Blessed to have such a good friend. Thanks Bill!

It looks like he got The driver’s side inner rocker done and also welded up the kick panel. Ill post up the pics that I got in my message.

It's always relaxing and rewarding working on something that really means something! I wish I would have had a bit more time Saturday or I would have gotten the front floor insert done to get the bulkhead mounted. This week after work looks promising so, we'll see what happens! Keep getting some rest and drinking plenty of water, I still need some direction so we can get you back in the drivers seat!!!

We got The bulk head welded in today Bill did most of the work because I spent most of the day Removing 6 Bolts that were broken off and rusted in. I wanted a permanent bulkhead and that is exactly what I got! It isn’t coming back out without A LOT of cut off wheels and grinding discs.
Since the bulk head is in I removed the support that was welded across the bed rails …..that thing just kept getting in the way so I am glad that it is gone.

After spending about 4 hours removing the broken off bolts for the tailgate hinges I put the tailgate on to see if it still lines up and I am pretty happy with it. The gaps are pretty tight. I just have to finish up the door post tomorrow on the driver’s side and then I am ready to get the rest of the body panels back on and test fit everything.

We aren’t done welding yet but man, we are getting closer! I am so ready to move on to something else….. hopefully just a few more days of it!

I'll post up some pics tomorrow...

I am sure you're glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of metal work. My project has me in the freshman stage, but I'm almost done with ALL the rust removal. The fitment and welding is in a category all its own.

You are doing a kick ass job. Keep up the progress!!

Thanks!
I watch your build religiously and you are going a lot farther with your body than I did. I’d never get mine back together from as far down as you have yours!

We are trying to do a good Job on it and error on the side of caution. As Bill was welding the crap out of the bulkhead we discussed that eventually I am going to be a “Stupid PO”! some day someone is going to ask "what was that guy thinking?". Best way I can explain it is I am Removing all the rust, Reskining the exterior and modifying the Bronco to suit my Needs while maintaining a somewhat stock appearance.

Keep at it till its done, I'm knee deep in engine work on 2 different engines, both are tore down to bare blocks and scattered everywhere all over my small garage. I'll never get back to the bronco at this rate!!!%)
You need to get some more pics up, I'm sure it looks good though!;)
