• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

I need a 28 spline 3rd member to get the 66 rolling. Not too picky on the gear ratio. Just need something to get by until I can upgrade.

... well I'm going to say you should be able to find that on any corner.
Kind like your thinking too hard. .. But I'm on TEXAS not kalif.
OLDER STUFF nearly had 9 inches in them . & older small motor had 28 spline .. Now remember .. If you just put it into you 66 to feel it roll around the block. DON'T PUT IT INTO 4X4 .. .... SO YOU'VE BEEN WARNED ..
....................................
But when you do.
....................................
Go get into some really soft dirt or very loose gravel . Then put it into gear & locked up on your hubs . Let out slow on the gas .. If front & rear match nothing happens then they match gear ratios.
.... IF You get a lot of slipping or tires are chunking gravel .. Then your gears don't match.
... Some of the Mud trac guys put ..like 3:55s up front & 4:10's in the rear.
i could be backwards . & Remember they like to work on their rides.
...............................
... But most of the older 9 inch should be 28 or 31spline . If you can take an old axle with you stuff it into the punkin ..
& Remember sometimes the U-joint yoke is wrong.

also That's rough advise .. But it's solid. ... MOSTLY...
BUT What type is your Bronco . .. Trail rides are noisy .. MAUL Queens they are a little less noisy ..
... So I HAVE A BEEN SETTING 4:11 FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS. IT'S just the frame. & I have a 68 in my shop that I have plans to crank this summer & DRIVE AROUND THE FARM. JUST TO SEE WHAT I HAVE TO SELL.. SO THE 68 HAS A 4:57 IN THE REAR. & I'M GOING TO PUT a 4"11 up front .. to replace the broken Dana 30 up front ..
... But we have a 4:11 in a frame in the pasture . Now the last owner had it in a classic Mustang .. but he said it was too noisy.........
.... At some point ... WE REMEMBER HOW ANIL This guy is. What noisy to him may be perfect to us with the pasture BRONCO ..
SO were going to put this under this Bronco ...& Drive it around the farm.
.. SO THIS 9 inch parts are tough.
They can most likely handle more abuse than you may plan to give them.
& At times they break.

Steve:
I don't have a complete third member but I have a factory trac-lock with a ring gear and maybe a pinion. You are welcome to it if it helps you.

I know about the matching front and rear gears. I'm just looking for a cheap set up so I can drive it until I decide what ratio and carriers to go with. That track lock might work. I guess I gotta pull it apart and see exactly what broke. I'm thinking either opinion or carrier broke.

I am not that far from you and you are welcome to what I have. I am sure the Trac-Lok is worn out but it should work in general. It's 28 spline with 3.50's.
