This old thread from Pirate 4x4 explains the difference between a CV and non CV yoke. @jamesroney is right, when you've dealt with them for years you can spot the difference from across the shop LOL.

Yeller, getting ready to order a new driveshaft. I see WH has them in multiple lengths. When I measured from outboard u-joints I got approx 35". ( with the old xfer yoke). WH offers a 33.5 (stock), 34.5", and 35.5". My truck is NO lift with new stock height rear springs from Tom's. I can only assume the 35" length since I'm running light, a 1/2 cab roadster, and nothing in the back except a spare. Does that make sense and do you think I am ok with the 33.5" stock shaft or should I opt for a longer one? Thanks.

I would think unladen with sticky replacement springs that the 33-1/2 would be fine. Should have more than enough slip to make up for any measurement issues.

Sticky? Ok, if you go by what WH says on the webpage I should be getting a 35.5” shaft which I would think is too long for my application. I don’t want the shaft halfs bottoming out if I hit a big hole. Maybe I will split the difference with 34.5”. Thanks for your input.

Does anyone know if there is a difference in length between a CV and a non-CV yoke?
If so, I certainly wouldn’t be measuring for a CV driveshaft with a non-CV yoke.

FIXED! Thanks to all for the assist with this issue. New correct yoke, new correct driveshaft from WH (34.5"), new rear output shaft bearings. Rides smooth and quiet!
