I have been considering adding swapping to a 351 as I am essentially rebuilding the entire car and want to also add EFI

Found a 351 with about 100k miles on it locally. How would this work as a swap?

Assume I would need to get a new intake manifold for it to fit? Any other major pieces that would need to be removed/swapped?

To me, any 351 is a good 351. I don't believe that will be a roller block, if that's important to you... Look at the block casting number, right above the starter. The roller blocks are F4 date code.

Are you keeping it EFI or going back to a carb? The current distributor should be a remote TFI, so if staying EFI you need to have a harness set up for that.

Easiest manifold fix is to keep the truck lower, get a car 5.0 upper and BC Broncos adapter. Other than that, you're looking at a GT40/Lightning lower manifold (that seem to be crazy expensive now) and either a GT40 or Explorer upper. Or, aftermarket...

Is it a F4TE block? If so it's a roller and a good option. I wouldn't go through the trouble of swapping in a 100,000 mile motor without rebuilding it.

I dunno - my 180K+ mile motor still had cross hatching in all of the cylinder walls. I would pop a cap off and look at the bearings and go from there, replace the lifters, oil pump, timing chain and pop the heads off for inspection.

Yeah, those EFI 100K plus mile engines are just crazy good inside. Not saying all of them are but it's hard to believe till you see it. Can't remember if it was pictures you posted or someone else but the cross hatching was CLEARLY visable. If not for photo proof, I would have never thunk it.......Bottome end is where all the ware is nowdays........

The 5.8L van motors are awesome. I had one in an E250 van we put over 200K on and it would tow just about anything. I don't believe its going to be a roller out of a 93, but still an excellent motor choice. I have a 95 5.8L (roller) out of an OJB in one of my EB's and a 91 5.8L out of a '91 van, waiting to go into my other one if I ever get around to putting that one back together.

This motor was cruddy and sat without the heads on it for some time exposed - only problem was two stuck rings on one cylinder found during the tear down.

Great looking cam bearing-

Lifter bores still had cross hatching - butter smooth.

Cross hatching-

These are tough ass motors!

Wow...really Kyle, That's how many miles? I want one!
What are the roller years and models that had em? Or just a break down of the best veh. I'll find in a junk yard w the good ones? Now that I'm re gearing to 3;50 s from 4:11 s I am looking for a upgrade in torque and power

351w block - F4TE = 94 Truck Engine. 1994-1997 only.

All F4TE are roller Blocks. However, the Lightnings I believe had the F4TE block as well but they actually had a Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam and Speed Density. The block was/is roller ready.

Correct - I paid $150 for mine and it came with a chrome fuel rail with EV6 injectors!
