Running into a issue with the 351w timing cover. I noticed the outlet and inlet ports are turned.
Anyone running a 302 water pump, passenger side drop, clockwise rotation, on a 351w timing cover with any issues? Kind of want to stick with v belt set up.

I've seen reverse and standard pump/cover mixed. The result was cavitation erosion of the cover.

Change the cover.

The idea that there is a 351 timing chain cover and a 302 version, is wrong. cs 88 is correct they are the same. The illustration from the Bronco Graveyard is misleading. All the covers are both 351 and 302 parts. The important elements in identifying the correct part is the application. I.E. was the donor carbureted or FI? Crankshaft sensor or not? Dip stick hole. Water pump rotation. Mechanical or electric fuel pump. The vehicle model and year.

That's a 1987 up truck serpentine belt timing cover and is a trued reverse rotation pump cover, you MUST change it for a standard rotation.

Bluebolt is correct, while helping to make my point. In '87 Ford made far more 351 Crown Vic PIs. I have 3 of these engines and the timing cover is identicle to the one on EB V8s. The belt is serpentine and the water pump has a driver's side intake.
