New to the site, tried the search engine, no dice

Is this feasible? What kind of gear ratio is optimal for daily driving? Any other info would be super, thanks fellas

Daily driver in summer. 35s with 4.10s and C4 works for me. I like it geared it a little higher for the long highway trips with no overdrive. Go 4 it!

I daily drive my rig 40+ miles a day with 35's.

I have 4.57 gears and its not the best on the freeway (thank you traffic). Idealy you would want an overdrive gear with 35's/4.57. I would say the best of both worlds for a DD/4x4 with 35's would be 4.27's in it (or is it 4.30 cant remember but close to that).

I opted for the lower gears because I am going to go with 37's someday and I hate to spend $ twice.

If I were to do it again, knowing that 35's were the largest tire i would use, I would have gone with the 4.27's. BUT...Im turning this thing strictly into a crawler within the next 5 years.

DD on 35's, I'd run 4.11's. It will put your RPM's at a more livable place when driving around. Plus you can still go wheeling.
Hell I have 3.50's and 35's in my 77 F150 which brings my RPM's way down at 60mph. But that is how i get 16 mpg out of it. Then again big blocks have enough power to spin those big tires.

Hollowch,
What kind of tranny do you have? I'm running an NP-435 w/ stock 3.50 gears and 33s. Gonna go up to 35s in the future and re-gearing to 4.10s to keep some good highway mileage. The great thing about the 435 is the granny low which gets you great offroad gearing w/o having to go super low in the diffs. 6.69:1 first gear baby!

I have had 33's under mine untill about 3 weeks ago I went and bought a set of 35's. manual 3 speed, 3.50 gears, daily driven works for around town, thats about it. Freeway or highway sucks, 55-60 top speed, high RPMS the whole time. Doing a 4.11 gear swap this weekend. hope that helps.

You sure you're not in low range?! Should have pretty low rpms w/ that combo. I run 70mph w/ my 33s and 3.50 at around 2500 rpm. 4.11s will make them even higher w/ the same sized tires on... What kind of rpm are you running at 55-60? 3.50 + 35s I'd think you'd be in the 2200 range at that speed...

X2 on the np435. 4.11 gears work great for the street, (2nd, 3rd, and 4th are roughly equal to 1st, 2nd, 3rd with stock 3 speed or c4), but the np435 gives you the gearing for off road. In fact, rarely do I put it in 4 low. And a stock 302 (strong but no powerhouse) will lay rubber in second gear (with a locker in the rear) if I wanna be stupid. Perfect setup for 35's, IMO.

Dude, 3.50's and 35's is 2100 rpm at 65mph and 4.11's will bring that up. I think you got something else going on. Sounds to me like you might be in 2L.

Like i said, I ran 4.11's in my bronco w/ 35's I'm upgrading to 38's now. But i had no problem diving around town and wheeling. My 77 f150 has 3.50's and 35 and it goes everywhere i need it to and when the DD goes down I can always hop in it and not be affected to bad in the pocket book.

I do a fair bit of highway driving in the summer and ran 35's with 4.11's. I was sitting about 2400 rpm with my factory three speed auto. I put on a set of 38.5's and I am down to 2000rpm's and hoping to go to a 4.56. "I" wouldn't go lower than a 4.11 for a daily driver.

or stay 4.10 if you do the highway thing and get lower transfer case gear for wheeling
