That's out of adjustment. Since the first half of the stroke does nothing, you are only stroking the clutch by half the travel it should have.
by the time you are on the floor you really only have the clutch in the halfway point.

That lowest leg of the Z-bar appears to have been cut and rewelded to clear the long tube headers sometime in the past, or at least that is what it looks like to me. This may have shortened the possible throw at that part of the equation. In an earlier picture, the rod that drops through the floor board to the upper leg of the Z-bar was missing a bushing and the hole looked a bit ratty. I would update that rod (factory non-adjustable) with one from a vendor that is adjustable and having a double shear end. That should allow you to start taking the "play" or excess travel out of the linkage and get you to activate the throwout bearing a lot sooner in the throw.

thanks all for the help! i have the adjustable push rod coming today. interestingly the one currently installed has a slight bow to it.
