I need to know if I install my 4r70w can I use 1st and reverse with the shift lever just to move it in and out of my garage during the build without the wiring harness and and opti-shift controller? Will this work and will I risk damage to tranney? Thanks Keith

Reverse and second will work with no wires attached. I went around the block trying to figure what I did wrong only to find I forgot to plug in the transmission. Since there is no line pressure control the default is high line pressure, so it will go into gear hard.

It will be fine for getting into and out of the garage. It is designed to be fairly idiot proof so it can't hurt itself if there was a loss of power while driving, but still move itself around.

even though it is electronic it still has a manual valve. And yes it will default to fail safe mode which is max pressure. It will move forward and backward but not shift.
