I used the factory location but extended a little to the front and back. The shifter I used was the stock np205 shifter and I heated it and bent it just a little for alignment. This is with a 3” body lift. I had to adjust the length of the shift rod from the shifter to the tcase.

I used a 4r70 out of an awd explorer. No mods to the tail shaft. You do need to cut/die-grind the tail housing for clearance of the shift mechanism on the 205. Just use the 205 gasket as a template.

In addition to the original question, I did not use the trans mount. My “transmission mount” is only off the rear of the 205. I figured the 205 was too heavy for the back of the 4r70 without supporting the 205.
I recently completed the rubicon trail and didn’t have any issues without the transmission mount being used.

I abandoned my original plan to use the AWD and NP 204 because I could not come up with a mount I liked for the 205. Seems the vendors would come up with one.

Thanks for your reply I’m going to try to get it close without butchering the floor up . I’m going with a console floor shifter so I’ll be cutting another hole in floor for cable to go through . Any pictures would be a help .Thanks again
