DON'T run your old balancer! Your old engine ran with a 28.2 oz. imbalance, while the 85' (an I have been told possibly 83') and newer engines run with a 50 oz. ombalance. With the age of the rubber in your balancer, it may shred at some point(when, who knows). Go to the junk yard, and get a balancer from any 85' or later 302 to be safe.

The engine is balanced with the flex plate or flywheel not the dampner! Besides if he's using the Bronco assories he needs the 3 bolt dampner.

rulebreaker, I never said that the balancer was what balanced the engine. But, the balancer offsets the harmonics set up by the engine. If you take a 30 year old balancer and ask it to do what amounts to more work, you are asking for trouble. I have seen main bearings get hammered out of their saddles in less than 100 miles when the rubber in the balancer failed.

for sure. I would just hate to see someone trash the bottom end of their hard earned iron with a questionable piece.
