So my 66 has a driver's side mirror only and it blocks the wing window from opening. I am going to add a passenger side mirror. I think I can barely move my current mirror down far enough to gain clearance and cover my current screw holes. The problem would be some paint touch-up work at that point. Then I can make sure my passenger mirror "mirrors" my drivers mirror and my wings can fly. Or do I just match the other side and have both wings clustered by mirrors? I am finding this to be a tough choice for some reason. Just looking for opinions. Do most of you all use the wing? Mine functions perfect. Thanks.

Also, while I am at it, I bought some round mirrors thinking it might be more 66-ish than the rectangle. I jumped on them when I found a set that has the 6" spacing like the newer style mirrors. Most all the round mirrors I have found have 4" spacing and will not cover my current screw holes. Anyway, round or square on my 66? Why do I feel there are no right or wrong answers here??

Hi,

Broncos aren’t ever perfect, especially 66s. Either you have the larger mid 70s mirror or someone’s measurements were off when they drilled.

1. Try find out if you have the larger size mirror. If not try the smaller 66 mirror. Same foot print, smaller head.

2. Relocate/redrill the mounting holes, move the mirror and ignore or plug the one hole.

3. Don’t use the wing window, buy A/C.

4. Mustang mirrors?

5. Just adjust the mirror when you use the wing window.

Either way, good luck.

PS Nice Bronco!

I prefer the round mirrors on the 66’s.

Hi, as you know, the 66 Bronco and Mustang mirrors are the same. And you know about the long base mirror.
Did you know the Mustang vendors have a wide angle convex mirror? I wish I knew about them before I got my new Bronco mirrors. I put one on the Mustang and I like it a lot. Good luck

No I did not know all that. Thanks for the info! I need to ask my questions and then buy my stuff. I'm all backwards on that. Thanks again for the reply back and the pictures. Awesome.

Good point Rusty, but what really sucks is having no passenger mirror at all and a drivers mirror that a knucklehead mounted in front of my wing. I have been told that is a common mistake though, so I will cut the dude some slack I guess.

They remounted the mirror forward of the stock location. Here is a pair of 66's with mirror in stock location (with the proper round mirror).

Thanks Goose! That is very helpful. I have about run out of easy things that I can do myself and it might be time to suck it up and tackle a couple of tougher projects and do this thing right. The broken / frozen windshield knobs is on the list. I have never had the top off yet because I know myself and I will open up a whole new can of worms with that one. Thanks again for the pic. Awesome looking Broncos!

And for whatever reason the door skin almost always cracks right by the mirror on a 66'. Original mirror and a CJ Pony mirror.

No shit! Mine is cracked right there as well. I was worried it was some kind of filler or repair deal. That actually makes me feel better about it. Misery loves company. I guess if I moved my mirror I could have that tackled as well.

After all that, I moved my mirror down to clear the wing and added passenger mirror in like 30 minutes or so. Everything looks great. Chat, scratch your head, measure for a year, dream about it ….and then….. 20 minute job. 🙄
