My recently purchased 67 bronco has no ignition key. Any way to get a master key, or other suggestion as how to remove the cylinder without a key? Thanks

I've heard of drilling out the tumbler and take a screwdriver and then do the paper clip trick. To get the old tumbler out so you can remove the ign.switch.

I personally have never did it.

Thanks, looks like a new ignition switch it is. am I able to easily remove it from the dash if I can't get the tumbler out to remove the keeper bezel on the front of the dash?

You have to drill it out. I did mine and it wasn't to bad. Just take your time and be careful. I bought the ignition and door lock set from toms.

Yep, no way to easily remove the switch from the dash until you get the lock cylinder out. It's an "interference fit" so to speak, so one won't come out without the other.

You could use a locksmith to get it unlocked to do the paperclip routine, but unless your good buddy is a locksmith, any visit to do that is likely going to cost so much more than the new stuff it's not worth it.
The original switches were probably better than the new stuff, but they eventually wear out too. So if yours is original it's likely not a bad idea to replace it anyway.

Never drilled one out myself either, but if you go that route don't forget to disconnect the battery first!;);D

dont have to drill anything out. paper clip and a twist pull off the bezel and undo the wires in the back
your key just wont match the doorlocks now

My original cylinder was so worn out I could easily turn it with the tip of a screwdriver. Give it a try before resorting to more labor and cash intensive methods.

x2 Before you ever work (hack) on a key lock unit of any type, check first with a locksmith. They can do magic stuff.

You could take a door lock off and take it to a locksmith to have a key made. That would save some money. That assumes that the ignition switch has not been changed before and that it still uses the same key as the doors. .

I've dealt with the same issue while working at UPS. They had a coffee can of Ford truck keys to use when some knucklehead took the keys home. About one out of 5 worked when jiggled a little. One out of 10 worked perfectly. Lock smiths should have a few to try. You may have some too. It's a good chance one will work.

There's a key code also on the bottom of the passenger door lock. I have also drilled one out using a step bit. Just take your time and don't loose the spring behind the tumbler.
