Well boys...The Holley Sniper arrived & looks good. I mounted the coolant reservoir & re cut the ignition wires to take out some slack. Newly painted fender, vent, manifolds, & passenger door were also mounted. We're making traction!

Driver door bolts that mount into the backing plates snapped on removal, we'll see if I can weld extensions on to remove. I also ordered a 24"x 24" sheet of 14g aluminum to make a fan mounting plate for the radiator. I only have about 2.5" of clearance between the radiator & the water pump pulley. The only 16" fan that fits in that space is something like a measly 1300cfm, so I'm going to be mounting diagonal 10" fans that are close to 1300cfm each.

I cut the passenger side wiring harness to get it through the firewall for paint, so tonight I'll bring that back through the firewall & work on soldering things back together.

Went w/ a blacked out Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator that will be mounted on the driver side corner next to the brake booster bracket. Optima red-top is on it's way as well.

  • Door backing plates were cut out & a new set welded in.
  • Stainless lines for fuel & brakes were ran all the way back.
  • Aluminum radiator fan mount plate was cut & I installed dual 10" high flow SPAL fans. FYI...a 16" center mounted electric fan that would fit only flowed 1200~ cfm. With this dual 10" offset it will now pull 2300~ cfm.
  • Steering column & shift linkage are at powdercoat.

  • Relay panel created, this was designed to mount on the inner fender corner but the Holley Sniper harness isn't long enough.
  • Coil mounted on firewall.
  • WH MOAB took a little trimming to clear the tall valve covers, but she's on. :)

Took her for the first drive yesterday after finally getting the motor running, it smokes the tires in all of first gear by just blipping the throttle! The power is unbelievable...Setting up the clutch linkage was a PITA as the EFI equalizer bracket didn't fit so I ended up welding it directly to the clutch pivot arm that extends from the trans. I'll work on getting a video up shortly.

Also currently just running open headers so I'm sure I don't have happy neighbors.
:)

Awesome build, man. I’m getting ready to install an M1A1 in my rig. I’m curious, did you put the filler and vent hoses on first and fish them over the top of the frame rail? Unless you have a big body lift, I don’t see how it’s possible to tighten the hose clamps at the tank end after the fact.

Thank you. That's exactly how you have to install it. The necks coming out of the tank make it too wide just to raise it up straight, so you have to raise it up at an angle & use the hoses to somewhat guide it over the frame rail. Also make sure to grab & feed the fuel lines & wiring over the cross member when the tank is partially up or they will pinch against cross member.

Keep an eye on the rear taillight harness as well because it will want to pinch.

Was that a "new" dead blow hammer at the start of your build?
I actually chuckled at this haha. That hammer has helped me build about a dozen vehicles over the years & I’ve been reduced to using the other side.

I’ve also been missing my Snap On 10mm wrench for about the same time & just ordered a replacement a couple days ago.
