we've been going back and forth and it seems this is a Stroppe installed 351W truck, one of 5 I have knowledge of. Pretty cool!

It's more of a culmination of clues rather than an actual Stroppe signature. First thing that I personally noticed was the way the hood was cut for the taller motor. Cut looked basically factory. Obviously it wasn't, but through the hood supports was way too clean. Then I looked at the ad that I found from the early 80s. The add showed it listed with a hood scoop and 351w. The bill of sale showed the bronco had 66,000 miles on it at that time. I sent pictures of the hood slicing to Andrew, he compared it with the slicing on his Travel Trailer Baja and determined that the scoop and slicing were the same. Then I scraped some of the green gray paint off the areas where the slicing was done and found the same satin black paint. Lastly in some of the maintenance paper work that I have the owner made note that the motor was a 69 model. Would definately not be out of the ordinary for a crate motor from Ford in early 71 to have a 69 cast block. So after knowing that Stroppe did install 351s into Bajas and a culmination of the clues, I feel it's safe to surmise that Stroppe installed it. No clues found that point to it being installed after it left Stroppes shop.

Very cool!

Mine has a 351W in it. Unfortunately, I have documentation proving that it was installed by a shop in VA in the '80s. :-[ :p :D ;D

Not done researching yet. Spent this evening trying to find numbers for the previous owners. Also see that Parker Motors is still a Ford dealer, highly unlikely they would have records from 1971. I know everything there is to know about this thing from the 80s on but would love to fill in the missing pieces.

That is an amazing find AND it has the 351W. The first thing that peaked my interest was the hood scoop that reminded me of Andrew's Trailer Stroppe. That's awesome!! Keep posting pics of your progress. I'd really like to see the research photos you've taken for the hood and engine. I just found a Stroppe that I practically stole and have zero remorse about under paying. You're completely correct about the value of education. It does pay off, especially in your case. Congratualations again. I love these kind of stories!!

Well it has been a longer process than I had hoped but I got all the tar out of the interior and green paint off the tub. Grill, tailgate, lift gate, top and hood are going to the blaster. This week I'll start welding up holes drilled in the doors and tailgate. Hopefully paint booth next week but who knows.

I actually kind of liked the old Green color dead road.
But there isn't anything quite like the ole' Red White and Blue.

Oh, and flat black too.

It was my first try at body work and frankly it burned me out. I'm still slowly plugging away. The powder coaters have had my parts for over a month and I haven't even called them, good excuse for a break. When I get the parts back it'll be ready for wed night shows at PIR, if it ever stops raining.

Check those orig floor boards!

I'm sure alot of you can relate but this damn thing has become an ever growing project. First plan was to simply shoot the outside to orig colors and drive it. Now that I've made a clean spot it seems like every thing else requires attention. Inside the fender wells, axels, chrome, window gaskets, seats, lenses, frame, suspension, WHERE DO I STOP. I've lost my mind.
