I have a 76 and believe somewhere along the way the oem
Trans was replaced with a RAT. I believe RAN was only used in 76 / 77. I bought a rebuilt RAN that with a 77 date code and it came with its own transfer case input shaft that was longer. I believe my trans case is the OEM Dana 20. I had no issue with install and bolted fine to my crossmember and have driveshafts all connected. The issue is my J shifter bolts fine, but the bottom plate in my pic has a slot for the pin to pass through when moving through N from The 4 side to the 2 side. The shifter can’t move far enough forward for it to pass through the slot. So the question is, is the trans case J shifter itself different for a RAN application?
