Good afternoon team Bronco,

This morning, while installing the rear driveshaft, I discovered an issue with the rear 9". The big bearing 9" has a new, ARB Locker installed. With the transmission in, park and the locker, unlocked(open diff). I can turn the rear tires by hand. There seems to be no engagement to the pinion. However once air is applied to lock the locker. I have engagement with the pinion and cannot turn the rear tires. Has anyone seen this issue with an ARB Locker when unlocked in open diff?

Thanks

As in you spin one tire and the other spins the opposite direction? That would be normal, it is just an open diff when unlocked. It should have little/no resistance. Locked operation sounds normal.

As stated, if the other tires turns backwards and the pinion stays still, normal
If you spin the tire and neither the pinion or the other tire spin, let us know. That could be a can of worms I don't want to open unless we have to.

with the transmission in park and driveshaft connected, you shouldnt be able to spin the rear tires locked or unlocked. With the transmission in neutral or the tcase in neutral you should see the tires spin as the posts above mention. Opposite ways when unlocked, same direction when locked. They put a ring gear on it when installing the ARB right? LOL
You might want to re-type this.

You can absolutely rotate the tires in an unlocked ARB while in park. Ring gear is stationary, pinion is stationary, driveshaft is stationary. Axle shaft rotates the differential side gear which rotates the differential spider gear which counter-rotates the opposite axle.

Thank you, James. I was hoping that I was missing something. And thank you all for the replies.
