94' 351W Mechanical Fuel Pump Questions

When i had my short block built, i vaguely recall something about the ability to run a mechanical fuel pump. I assembled the motor with a universal timing cover with a spot for the mechanical fuel pump, so i am thinking that i am set up for one. Now that i am planning on the Exp 5.0 Serp front dress, i believe that i read somewhere that the provisions for the mechanical pump will cause issues with the explorer timing cover. Is this he case? Since i will be removing the water pump, balancer and cover is this something i can fix when i am in there, or do i need to have a machine shop do the work?

Easily fixed just have to remove the fuel pump eccentric thats bolted to the end of the cam. The explorer cover will not fit unless you remove it.

I don't think there is a Timing Cover that matches the Water Pump of the Explorer 5.0L that has a Mechanical Fuel Pump Boss.

If I remember correctly you have to run an Electric Fuel Pump with Explorer Serpentine System.

You can install the F-Series 351w Serpentine System (F4TA) with the timing cover you have and use a Mechanical Fuel Pump and Mechanical Fan. You will have to machine the rear of the PS Pump Bracket to clear Fuel Pump. Very minor though.

You need to run an electric pump - no provision on that timing chain cover (or the room for that matter) for the eccentric. The cover will physically not bolt on-

thanks all, will pull what i have, remove the eccentric and move forward with the exp serp setup.
