97 Explorer & ECM & harness question(s)

I'm setting up a harness for another member on the forum (Deadfish), and I wanted to get some feedback on some of the items I'm not familiar with.

Setup:
AOD transmission (non comp controlled)
Explorer Engine
In tank fuel pump

I'm wondering if I should just eliminate all of the transmission solenoid wires off the ECU, or If I need to fool any of them. Also, will the above setup require a flash?

02 sensors.... what is the best way to eliminate the two rearmost 02 sensors?

Also need some ideas as to how to handle the following pins:

PINS
2 MIL (Dash check engine)
Pin 12, Yellow white - Unknown
13, 15 & 16 - Datalink

29 trans cont sw
40 fuel pump monitor
41 ac high press (unused on conversion?)
43 fuel flow rate
49 (unknown)
50 (unknown)
56 vapor valve
62 pressure transducer (unused on conversion?)
67 evap
79 trans cont ind
80 fuel pump cont
92 brake on & off

Thanks for anything you can offer.

OK, so, I'm a OBDII fan and am in the process of doing mine in an unconventional way (on here) and plan to keep most everything that was in the '96 Explorer donor... But, I've got to ask why you would go through the trouble of going OBDII w/o using the 4R70W trans?? Its far superior to the AOD and the main reason to use the factory Explorer PCM over the Mustang system that is so popular on this site.. Everything you're eliminating make the Mustang A9 make much more sense and it would be amuch easier project... With that being said, if you already have the stuff and are going to make it work, I'd suggest finding and befreinding a tuner local to you that can assist in flashing the PCM to your needs. You'll need to ask him about his capabilities and what he suggests. The trans, EVAP, rear O2s and other systems can be eliminated, but they have to be "turned off" inside the PCM..

Because this is what he has, and wants to run.

Keep in mind that the cost of making what you have work + tuning is likly going to be higher (and a lot more work and a lot more complex) then just using the mustang type conversion.

Special tune because the OBDII won't be happy with things missing. Like transmission, evap system, fuel tank level, fuel tank pressure, fuel tank temperture, rear O2s, cats, etc.

OBDI (EEC-IV) doesn't care about that stuff and will work fine.

Are you running the explorer fuel tank components and rear 02 sensors?

Dido, going 97 Mountaineer because I have it. But might have to rethink this. Going NV 3550 so no tranny issue anywho. Will be interested in seeing the resolution, sounds like Dave (deadfish) and I will have similar set ups. Not sure what tranny Randy is running yet but maybe we are looking to flash more than one PCM the same way locally.

So far, it looks like $250 for a chip and flash, $350 for an x3. The x3 will offer internet updates, the chip does not. I'm not sure if this is required or not, or if Dave is in a unique situation because of the aod (non electric cont. trans) Pete, you may be in the same boat, Randy may luck out. I'm still in the learning stages of the OBDII, but from what I can see, it's best to use it when running all Explorer components, including the small sensors etc...
