Looks good. That picture with the pedal is classic. I have felt that way about many of the parts on my truck. ;D

sent that pic to grand-dad... he got a kick out of it!

OK, here is a few pics of some of the things we had been working on, or had worked on but hadnt posted pics yet ;D

First off..... something we found in the frame rail...... sorry lil buddy!!!

Some more rust repair

We did the popular 4x4x2 conversion on this steering box, then mounted it up. We mocked it up, welded DOM to the bottom of the frame for the bottom 2 bolts, then boxed that.

Then here is the brake booster bracket we have been working on (on and off) for the past couple weeks. We opted to offset it rather than angling it out.

well, here is a picless update... just thought id hop on here and list the few things that we have tied up in the last few days

Finished bolting up transmission
Measured for temp driveshafts
Bolted up headers (the exhaust place is gonna hate me for where the pass collecter is)
Fabbed a T case shifter
Ran a serpentine belt for AC delete, which involved stealing a ribbed idler pulley from a 5.4
Filled engine with oil/new filter and cranked to lube everything as its been sitting for a while.
drew up some cage plans

We are waiting on some stuff coming from summit to finish up a couple things mainly my brakes and trans linkage, as well as a front end poly bushing kit.

Its getting closer, the main things on the to do list are finishing up the brake system, which needs calipers, rotors and a proportioning valve, the exhaust, which will be one of the last things done, as we are sourcing that out. Cage building, temp driveshafts need to be built, engine still needs some wiring to be complete, and i need to go through all my existing wiring as well.

here is a pic-worthy item.....

When i got it back this bad boy was faded, the glass was broken, and it had a stupid red high beam indicator lens.... I'll buy the guy a beer that guesses what i used to make the high beam indicator blue instead of red....

I'd really like a beer. Did you use the blue thread lock? I've been using so much of it lately putting my engine, trans, and other parts together it is the only thing I can think of.

;D

We have basically been buttoning up details lately, vacuum lines, fuel lines, throttle cable, etc....

today since we hooked the throttle up, i was actually able to drive it around the block, before we were just idling it everywhere we needed to move it.... beats pushin... anywho, we encountered a bit of a trans problem that we are hoping a valve body swap will fix. Still needs exhaust, some other wires under the dash hooked up and tied up...

Tomorrow we should be starting on the cage, so we can put seat belts in, after that and the exhaust, technically it will pass state inspection and i can get it registered and start driving it around working on it as I go. its been at the shop for almost a year now!

well, i figured id update this a bit... #1 since i see the pics of the cage directly above where im typing, it bears mentioning that we didnt like the close tolerances we were left with on this cage. turns out we had the drivers and passenger side hoops switched up and by the time we realized what we had done, we had gotten through quite a bit of welding. the hoops were supposed to be kicked in at the top of the door level about 3 degrees inward so with them switched they were kicked out 3 degrees..... DOH!!!!

So no cage..... anyway, i have it registered and have been doing shakedown runs around here, and with good purpose, as ive ran into a few things ive since ironed out.

At this point, this is where it stands....

It has a lower mile 5.8EFI from a 95 Bronco, modified 5.0 intake, 75mm TB, Hedman headers, Custom 2-1 3" exhaust, NP205, and an AOD with Wide ratio 4R70W gears. Then the more common mods, doors w/ removable window frames, 2" body lift, Ford tilt steering, driver's 8 way power seat (front seats from a Dodge Intrepid), power steering (4x4x2 box) Custom brake booster bracket, booster out of an explorer, front disks, aluminum radiator, and 23 gallon fuel tank/skidplate.

It is still a bit rough around the edges, so im working on those small issues.... My next plans involve building a front and rear bumper, rock sliders, and a roll cage. Then comes bodywork, im pulling off all my trim, filling the holes, filling the antenna and front fuel tank hole, getting a new nosecone and fenders, the front to rear fender mod, and paint. After that I will look at getting some different wheels and bigger tires.

Here is the latest pic with my better half at the wheel
