What are people's thoughts about Ebay vs. the For Sale forum here?

Honestly? You'll get a little more on eBay since you might grab someone who doesn't fully know what they're looking at (haven't seen shots of the inside or the underside) and guys here will know what it will cost to make it right again and subtract that from their offers.

Dealing with people on here (I've sold both of mine through this forum and tons of parts) is much easier than externally. The questions, honest offers, and feedback [for me] was often well worth the small percentage of capital lost versus dealing via eBay and Craigslist.

Also, as someone who is looking for another  that is one h*ckin nice Bronco from the visuals and video you've given. When you get a price; please PM me [I'll go ahead and send you one]. I'd like the opportunity to talk to you about the specs and possibly about taking it off your hands.

But even before you do anything else:
1) Get a Marti Report so that we all know what it should have
2) Get the title in your name and cleared for an easy sale

Unfortunately that's a pretty poor comparison you're talking apples and oranges. The early six-cylinder original 66s are going to appeal more to the originality guys, one like Scoops is going to be a different buyer, someone who appreciates a beautiful restoration and a lot of modern upgrades.

Either way its a great looking 66 and should command low to mid $20's or more. Member BajaFresh has sold a few nice 66's for that price range here. At the end of the day it is worth what someone will pay. I would much rather sell here to a knowledgable buyer who will keep it and enjoy it than joe blow off eBay. Take your time and learn about them and you will be much more comfortable feeling you got a good price. FYI they do not have Marti reports for 1966 broncos.

This truck needs to be cleaned up and sent to auction. People who want it will anti up and buy it for what its worth. It will also get you out of the tire kickers and low-ballers game. This is the time to do it with the Bronco market on a high point. You big issue is getting another hubcap for the right front.

This sounds like good advise to me

Rusty said it earlier, get the title in your name bc that's the first hurdle. If you can find all the stamped VINs on the frame that's a huge plus in my book. There's also a vin tag on driver side kick panel. Those VINs will bring you big money and assure the buyer with confidence that it matches the paper title. Good luck!

No Marti for the '66 JaxLax;)

I forget things.
Yeah, this one needs to go to a collector/preservationist.

I'd hate (personally) for a flipper/mod company to grab it and cut the flares and shove in a new engine. Sure, it'd be great and all that, but sometimes things shouldn't be messed with.

I can come pick it up this afternoon...$5k, you won't need to worry about the details.

But seriously, you have a sweet little original looking EB that half of the folks on here would give their left arm to keep and drive, and the other half would use to fund their other EB builds. A current title, appraisal and willingness to ship should get you top dollar for that rig.

Look at recent Mecum results from the other thread, I would suggest they could have done better elsewhere.

Put it up here or ebay and see where it goes.

Holy smokes. Not to discourage a sale, but keep it. Keep it in your family. Once you sell it forget about trying to afford another one like it.... in my mind, this is one that gets passed down to the next generation. Best of luck with whatever means that you decide Folks on this forum would certainly give it lots of love

Wouldn't be the first time. I kind of had the same response.

No rat here. Only 4 posts because I'm not actually interested in Broncos, I just happen to now be the owner of one!

The story is that my grandparents bought this very Bronco in 1966 in Iowa (though my mom thinks they had to go to Kansas or Missouri to pick it up?) and used and loved it for 20-plus years. They had a small camper on it. It has been all over the country, to the west coast, to Alaska, to Montana, etc, and back. Well loved. But eventually my grandparents got too old to enjoy it so sold it to a neighbor. My mom was in college when they bought it, but joined them on many of their trips and had many fond memories of it, so in 2004, she found the buyer, he still had it, and she bought it back from him. At that point, it was a little worse for wear. In particular, the small camper on the back had damaged the truck bed. You can see the shape it was in when she bought it in these photos:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uidczhf496134vc/AACOFEjnHfj0TOBAf_jB2rUWa?dl=0

So, my mom tried to take care of it by getting the damage in the truck bed (and elsewhere) fixed up, and getting it repainted.

But now, after 13 years, she's no longer getting any joy out of it, is tired of storing it, is tired of worrying about it, and is tired of trying to do the right thing for it. She originally bought it to take it on trips again, but that just hasn't worked into her lifestyle. And she isn't interested in keeping it for it's historical value or for nostalgia. So her and I are teaming up to sell it. We will split the profits (this was her idea). I'm in charge of it now so that she doesn't have to stress about it anymore.

So I'm doing my best to help her find a new home for her family Bronco, and get her a good price for it so she can at least make up what she has spent on it.

I'll post more photos this afternoon.

My mom and I have decided to post it to the For Sale section here on this site and see what the response is. How does that work? Do I set a price, or do I just post it and see what people offer for it and take the best offer after a week or so?

Man that thing is cool. I think posting it in for the sale section here is a great thing to do, I would set a price that you are comfortable with and see what type of offers you get.

Put in on and just say 30k or best offer lower or higher. Money talks. If someone puts down a load of cash that would make both of you happy take it. But be patient. No offense to flippers who do us a great service and provide us with great trucks. If you want max dollar, hold out for the end user.. I have sold several classics and you will be able to weed out the serious buyers quickly.
Don't let eBay steal your $$$.
