Air Cleaner to Hood Clearance

I've got a question on hood clearance for the '67 bronco I am rebuilding that I would like to throw out to everyone. I'm preparing to drop in a 351W with an edelbrock 7581 intake and a Holley 670 carb. The bronco has a 2" body lift.

I'm looking at an oval Scott Drake air cleaner. It shows the filter element is 2-1/4" tall, but I can't find an overall height listed. Anyone have experience with one of those air cleaners that could tell me the actual set up heigh. Or instead anyone have a rough measurement on the clearance from the carb to hood?

Thanks,
Matt

Look for a " drop base " cleaner ; the filter is the same height but sits lower relative to the hood . Your 2" body lift will help

The 7581 is a high rise intake. Not what you want with a 351 swap. The OE Bronco air cleaner is the best choice for hood clearance.

If your 670 Holley is a Truck Avenger the factory air cleaner won't clear the " crossover " tube - but you can remove the tube or use a spacer between cleaner and carb

With the 2in body lift it'll be tight with a drop base.

I have their performer intake and according to their website it's 4.070" max height at the center and you'rs is 4.80. I also run their pro-flo efi throttle body that looks like a carb but is definately not as tall as a 670 Holley. So let's assume you're a full inch taller than my setup.

Mine did not fit not even close but I don't have a body lift so I have the fiberglass hood scoop riveted on. I rub (just if I don't screw the wing nut down tight) on that hood scoop now even with the drop base and that scoop adds about 1-1/2 inches in the rear and 4 in the front with about 2-1/2 in the middle. But you add a bunch when you cutout the crossbar in the hood. You might need to do some trimming or go with a shorter filter.

Like I said, if it fits it will be super tight.
