Working on the new to me 351w (actually 393 stroker) and it's getting time to buy a pan, pump and pick up.

I'm going with an Explorer Serpentine front dress on this motor, which has the dip stick in the timing cover, I think.

What's the inexpensive route here, given that I won't need a dip stick in the pan?

Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, It's a '75 block, if that matters.

Explorer timing cover has no dipstick provision. The factory application is for the dipstick in the drivers side of the block.

The Explorer timing cover makes no changes in the oil pan needed.

You just need to get a pan with dipstick provision. Choices range from truck pans that need a dent to clear the front diff (often self clearancing after install) to aftermarket rear sump pans. Do check the venders more then speed shops as you need a Bronco specific pan that has the corner of the wump clipped for diff clearance.

How much were you looking to spend?

I got one for my 351W from WildHorses a couple of years ago for about $160.00. THat's the pan ,sump, and dipstick. It fit fine and I've had no problems since. Marc

If I remember right you're looking for the fox body pan for the 351w. You will want the dipstick in the pan where the main sump is. The timing cover dipstick will only read the shallow front sump. If you run a high pinion front end you will want the milodon pan to clear the driveshaft. It's quite a bit more $$ than the standard 351w fox pan.

I really don't have a price in mind, but the budget on the project is spiralling out of control!!! The $135 pan that Mad found looks like the best one for my budget.
