Hey. Gettin ready for some door seals, and have no clue who I should go with. I am familiar with all of the recent seal fitment issues. Anyone having any luck with a particular vendors seals, or maybe Metro? Any advice would be great. Thanks. Doug

I just ordered a set from WH. They have an install video that is real good and they claim that the door doesn't have any hard close issues. I will be installing them in the spring. Ken

Metro Softseals have been claimed here to be some of the best because you have problems closing your doors with other ones which are thicker than stock. I gave a set to the body shop getting ready to do my paint so they could line up the doors and they told be it was a real pain even with those. They said they got it worked out finally and I'm headed over today to bless it before they take it apart again for paint. I'll ask them about it.

Metro Softseals are the best I've found by far but still not perfect.

Did you purchase some recently?

A few years ago they retooled. I waited a year to get some and they were the worst I have ever seen. The extruded portion was not even close to the right profile and was way too thick. Maybe they have retooled again.

Let me know how it goes Ken, I need some too, but I don't plan to drive it until spring either, except maybe to Ohio BMV :)

Bought some back in July from this place...

Northeastclassicfordparts.com

Believe he goes by delconic on here. The passenger side was perfect. I had to adjust the door on the driver side but it's fine now. I would certainly buy from this source again if needed. I know a lot of issues come from seals that are too think but since the newest of our old Bronco's are at least 40 years old, it can be difficult to get the door, seal and body aligned just right.

No, I've had these for about 4 years. By far the best I've tried.

Rodeo. Jeff. I will let you know when I install them. I am hoping they are what the WH video proclaim. I have read a lot of door seal horror stories on here. Ken

Thanks Ken, there’s a set for sale in the Parts section, with part numbers, that’s when I remembered this thread

I can surf the internet and listen to CD quality music on my phone.

40 plus years after they make the bronco, a simple one part component known as a door seal are getting worse and worse.

I'm surprised these manufactures have not figured out you really shouldn't make the seals out of the same rubber you make tie rod bushings, or at least thats what they all feel like now.

If any sellers are listening, make the seals out of real squishy rubber, problem solved. I think real squishy is an official term of rubber hardness.

Anybody try Steele Rubber products? They advertise on the Saturday morning car shows like gears etc. I recently installed a set from Delconick and they are semi-soft, pretty good fit, don't have to slam the hell outta the doors to close. I still have some adjusting to do to my doors, but so far I'm happy with them, no real horror stories here. ;D

They installed the metro on mine, said it took a little work modifying the bottom of the door at the front curve, and they're not as soft as they used to be, but the door closes fine now with little pressure and lines up with the rocker. When they first put it on, the bottom of the door stuck out 1/4 inch. He said they don't collapse well while new, but the room is there. They just have to have the doors closed on them for a while until they form collapsed. I'm wondering if a heat gun would help, but since they got it adjusted, I'm leaving it alone.

On my 240z I was instructed to bake them on warm for an hour, then install and leave shut for like a weekend. Seemed to help a lot.

Percision replacement parts weatherstripping is hollow and the door shut nice

I replaced the bottom of the door seals with hollow weather stripping. Problem solved. Doesn't look great but the doors close like they should. No slamming.

Dennis Carpenter revamped their door seals about a year ago. They are about as close to the old original Metro seal as your going to get. I have installed a few sets of the D.C. new redesigned seals and they seem to work very well.
