Any one running Super Swamper radials?

I am interested in buying new tires. I am going to run 35". I now have a set of 33" BFG MT's which ride good and are good on the trail. I also have recently purchased a set of used Super Swamper 33-15.50-15 SX's. They have about 9/32 of tread left (about half worn out). But on the road they vibrate terrible. I live about 5 miles from my job and the bias ply design beats me to death. I wonder if the radials do any better? I would hate to spend all that money and still have excessive vibration. I realize part of it is the bias belts and part is the aggressive tread. The tires I bought set for about a year on a truck which didn't move. I just wondered if the radials were any better? After running the Super Swampers the BFG's are so smooth! But I like the look of the Super Swamper and they were great aired down on the rocks. The Bronco is not a daily driver (I drive it about once a week to work) and I go offroad about five times a year.

I have had many different sets of swampers, and all of them vibrated badly if they sat and got flat spots in them. The truck you gat them off of might not of had the alignment done. In my opinion swamper makes the best tire out there, of course all I do is mild trails, & lots, & lots of MUD. If you keep the right amt. of air pressure, & watch for choppy tread, swampers will ride fairly descent, & last a while.

I have 36" swamper radials, bought them new. Ride nice, no vibration, noiser then my mud terrains, but they measure a true 36". Tread pattern not as aggresive as the bias swampers, but are a better all around tire

I'm running Super Swamper SSR's.

They seem to ride very well on the road, although I haven't put but 200 miles on them so far.

I run the radials 36x12.5x15, I've had them for about two years, they are great tires, they are still smooth on the pavement and do not flatspot at all.

I have the TSL radials in a 38 inch flavor and can let them sit for months at a time and the ride is still smooth as can be (so to speak). Only time they gave me any trouble was at a very high speed...

Had the trx's and liked them alot. Now I have the MT/R's but I havnt used them yet. My buddy has them and I think, after driving and riding with him, that they are a perfect choice for a daily driver.

I have been running TSL Radials for at least 4 years. I run 36-14.50-15's and have had great street performance and little or no vibration on the highway. The radial design is the trick to the smooth tires on the road. I drive 65 - 80 mph more often than not and only have the usual big lug noise from the tires.

I have tried to talk myself into another brand of tire to see if I get the performance offroad as well as the street and after talking to everone else, I come right back to the Swampers as the best all around tire for what "I" use them for.

%) I understand exactly where you are coming from. I was in the same boat as you i wanted the aggressive look as well as a decent ride. I'm not really sure where you live but there is a place in NC called GALLOWAYS and they deal with huge swampers every day. They do something called "PAD BALANCING" and no matter what tires you have they won't beat you to death going down the road. You might want to call around your area and see if anyone offers this type of service. As for tires, I've have talked to many people and I myself was going to go with the Radial Swampers TSL or SSR's but eveyone I have spoken with says that the IROK Bias does not flat spot and that they have pretty decent road manners compared to the TSL Swampers. I actually should be getting my IROKS in about 2 weeks. I have decided to go with the 36x13.5x15 which measures out to a 37" tire. I like the look of IROKS and not to many people have them yet and I was told I should get around 20k miles out of them. I am a 90% on road 10% off-road diver so 20k is fine by me and my Bronco is not a every day driver. You might want to look into that and if you are set on a radial then they make the IROK Radial also but the Bias is much cheaper. I agree that the swampers makes your rig look much better. Let us know what you decide ad send us a picture when you get the new tires.

Thanks for the input. I had just about talked myself out of the Super Swampers. Now I will have to start all over. It will now be a price issue. I have found some Mud Kings which are cheap. But the Swampers do look the best and perform the best offroad.

i ran 36 sx's for 13 years. i agree, swampers are great for mud and for looks, but on a quiet night i could hear my swampers growing flat spots. i purchased a set of almost new mtr's and now I feel like i'm riding on clouds.

TBurke, I just realized you live in Siler City, NC. I live in Winston Salem, NC. I talked myself out of swampers a few times but I knew that I wouldn't be happy with a M/T tire. It just doesn't give the look and perfromance I'm after. GALLOWAYS 4wd center is in New London not far from Salisbury. Call and talk to them and they will tell you that once they balance them they won't ride rough. I talked to Lester ( the owner I think) and he said that they have people come from SC, VA, NY and all over to get them to balacne their tires. If you like the IROKS post an IROK thread and you'll find out a lot of info. The cool things is that the BIAS are much chearer and that they will not flat spot. GALLOWAYS price my 36x13.5x15 BIas for $875.00 mounted and balanced. That is well worth the 1.5 hour drive for me. GALLOWAYS number is 1-(704) 463-7513... Give them a call.

I'm on my 4th set of swamper radials. I think they are a great all around tire. I have no reservations about doing 70 down the freeway. The only thing that sucks is they wear out so fast. I haven't lost a single sidewall, and I do a fair amount of wheelin.

If you want to get a lot of miles out of your tires, better stick with the BFG's and their rock hard rubber compound.

I've got 36" radials on my 3/4 ton GMC & they ride great! The noise isn't too bad, but my exhaust is pretty load. I have the IROK's on my EB & they seem to be a great tire also. You can't go wrong with Swampers.

I have dealt with Galloways before. I own the local Western Auto, and we sell tires. So I do get a deal on tires. I have pad balanced tires myself. I actually used to get the pads from Galloways. I found them cheaper in town the last time I needed them. We used to sell alot of large tires (38's-44's) But that was several years ago. It seems it was a passing fad in our town. The 31's through 35's that I now seem to sell are usually close enough to not require pad balancing.
I am now leaning towards the 35-14.5-15 radial ssr. I think my past experience with the TSLs were due to the flat spotting.
I am running my 35s BFG MT's off my other Bronco while the motor is out of it. I did a frame off custom redo a few years ago to it. It has a detailed frame and is more for show than offroad. So I have a few weeks to decide.
Iwill have pictures in my gallery as soon as I install what ever I get.

i have 34 inch bias swampers on my bronco . they run fine if they are balanced correctly to your wheels. radials are designed for better handling on road this is true, but i think the trade off is worth it for the offroad durability. especially if you drive it once a week.
