Does everybody here know that the Saginaw Steering Division was divested and renamed Delphi?
The Steering box that everyone calls a "Saginaw" is typically the Saginaw 700 series, in common use from the 60's thru the 90's and beyond.
The "Delphi" design is named the Delphi 600, and is made by the same people in the same factories. (although as stated above...can be sourced from China.)
The Delphi 600 box has a removable valve body, similar to the Ford corporate box. (not the Ford steering box used in 73-77 Broncos, which is a Saginaw 700 design) The Saginaw 700 has an integral valve housing. So it has a big nut on the input side.
the Box on the JK Wrangler appears to be the Delphi design, but as previously noted...needs to be sourced from a RHD Jeep, or a Nissan xTerra.
I'm going to go look at my 07 JK, and I'll let you know what it has. The Delphi 600 is supposed to have a bigger piston, so that might make it a better box.
Has anyone ever measured the maximum sector shaft rotation on the Delphi Box? I KNOW that the 4x4x2 box does not turn as far as the Saginaw box.
thx.
