I too am a fan of the chevelle's .. I owned a brand new SS IN 70.
.............
.. This thread is about like the one I just posted up last weekend. I went to summers last blast in Vernon TEX .. It too was a great cruise.. They had a Buddy Holly .. Elvis.. & Roy Orbison.. A VERY LARGE BURN OUT CONTEST !!! then over 1000 cars in the cruise Sat Night .. Me & 2 other Broncos .. Then some Rat Rods .. not many Vets .. BUT A LOT Of old middle of the road type cars this years. Crazy from maybe a 58 dodge truck or a 65 flat side ugly dodge truck .. Camera and Mustangs Falcon Road Runners were short this year. But old Merc or 53 fords were there .. More 1961 CHEVY 2DOORS THan Bronco .. But my 3 car was a 61 Chevy 2 door hard top . I had a 327/340HP but never got the 4sped in that car.
... Man those cruises could be fun if that was all you had to do in life.
.......................
... EDIT .... Cars I've owned but now I'm 63.. 1st was a 1952 chevy 4 door 6 banger auto.. ''Mirdile Fay Chevrolet. named after an old teacher. .. 1955 CHEVY 2 door ..3 speed O/D WITH Hurst shifter..4:56 p.trac.. With 2 groove slicks ran on the street.
. I later got a 301 V8 in it.
..1956 chevy 2 door post with 283 + and 2 WCFB 4bbl carbs .....
.. About 3 1957's Just drove 2 weeks and sold.
.. Then the 1961 .. Now man I was one cool dude in this one ..327 / 340hp & 4:11's as I recall tonight but never got the 4speed.
I did have the 1st 4 track stereo .with back speakers.
.. Then GUYS HERE'S THE SPECIAL car. 1966 CHEVYII SS GREEN ON GREEN w/ 327/350 HP .. 4 SPEED BUCKETS & 4:11
... Even the vacuum lines
where chrome .. I had a Corvette double Chrome Snorkel Breather on mine ..... This car would run 7k in 4th gear .. It did began to vibrate about here but I WAS BULLET PROOF at 18 .......
.. 1970 Chevelle SS 400 /400. skunk stripes & buckets
...1971 Monte Carla 350/350 Buckets
...1974 Pontiac Grand Prix 400/400 & more Buckets .& Honey Comb wheels . Those 3 last ones were all Gold in color.
.. Then swapped over to hot rod trucks 1970 chevy Short bed 350/350 noisy.
.. Several 1974 trucks
.. Then I began to farm 1976 chevy one ton flat bed.
..1974 Dodge 440 / 727 flat bed .. Neat truck..
...1970+ Worloc Black.. I still have wrecked parts from this ....
...1980 Bronco with a million miles on it and my 72 Bronco .4bt
...+ Wifes Cougar ... Cougar .. Tbirb.. & Cougar .. then 5 Durango. Last one is a Hemi..

I am partial to Fords, but appreciate any old resto. I love those old late 40's early 50's cars that you can have a picnic in the back seat. I also like the the 67-69 camaro's and on the ther side of the fence early 70's Mach 1 and 2 fastback mustangs, any truck from 1940-1960. Can't forget the Mopars muscle from the 60's. Oh, hell, I like them all. My neighbor has a 1967 Chevelle that's a head turner.

I'm not really partial to any manufacturer, every company has made gorgeous vehicles IMO. Too many of them to list, man if I were rich I'd have so many classics that it would make Jay Leno green with envy.

I've restored a couple '60's and '70's Chevys as well made performance upgrades on a couple vettes. I have always been partial to Chevy but fell for the Bronco a few years ago. I'm more into the engine performance side than the crawler side.

A 1974 Catalina 27 my father bought in 1978 and passed to me in 2001. Pulling the engine by myself and getting in onto the dock for a rebuild in 2005 was quite the challenge. ;D

Then I got the Bronco in 2006 and the boat's been jealous ever since.

I'm not sure "classic" is the right description, but it's a 73 model, so she's old!

I have more questions than answers.
I collect old rust. I have a 69 firebird convert bought in 79. Had to buy it, my 71 triumph tr 6 was part of my down payment on my first home. Love anything old that has been taken care of. The fact they put that much time and effort into keeping it on the road I respect.

I got a 76 F150 4x4 and a 68 Falcon two door sedan. I am a sucker for the 66-67 Fairlanes. Heck, i am sucker for just about any classic ford.

I have an 11 second '68 Corvette with an LS-6 engine on steroids but it pisses me off every time I drive it because something breaks!

I am also restoring a '60 Corvette FI.

Not really a "Classic", but a "Classic" to my generation!

Enjoyed looking at others "Toys" from boats to airplanes to tractors! My old ATC 350X is one that the government deemed "Illegal to manufacture". I still like getting it out and running around playing a few tunes out of the Supertrapp! It has an original set of "Ohtsu" flat track racing tires on the rear on some 8" Douglas polished wheels. I also have the original rear rims and some "mudders"!;D;D

Very sorry to hear about your father. He left you one beautiful toy.

Thanks Broncmeister...It is a really nice toy at that! I am just glad that he finished it while he was in good health, as there is so much to know about cars of that age. I would think it would be more simple than Broncos, but sourcing parts and all of the little "good to know" things are completely new or unknown to me...

:)
