Hey guys....I'm about to order a Best top bikini top for my 72 Bronco. I was curious if anyone here has installed this item before.....the description says the windshield channel is installed with screws and may need drilling if factory holes do not line up....I don't understand why they wouldn't use bolts to attach it to the factory holes. I really don't want to to use self tapping screws and screw into the metal cuz that's gonna look pretty crappy. Any thoughts?

Yes, many folks on here have installed a Bestop soft top. The reason you may need to drill a couple of holes is because Ford changed the top bolt pattern mid-year '69 - when they went from vacuum wipers to electric wipers. Not a big deal - only 2 holes were moved IIRC. Either leave them out or drill the riser to match your bolt pattern.

Also search for door surround hole modification so you don't have to drill the top of the door striker posts. EDIT: Never mind, not applicable to a bikini top!

I have a 74 and installed the riser with my hard top bolts, no drilling required. You should be OK if you have electric wipers.

Check your seams too when you get the top. If any are already loose or separating the top is just going to self-destruct in short order.
Someone complained about theirs lasting about a month. There was a thread about it a couple of months ago if I remember.

It's been a problem ever since production went overseas.
Not an issue with their full soft top, or any of their other stuff that I've heard. Just the short bikini tops.

I had the bikini top & then I went with the safari top b/c I changed from the WH San Felipe style roll bar to the family cage, but I didn't care for how high the riser went, so I cut it down, almost by 1/2. Lets the top rest slightly more level.

(obviously I don't have windshield wipers, this is how I drive the Bronco year 'round. I just pick non-rainy days)

Bought TBP bikini top. Had to drill two holes on the sides of the windshield for the snaps, great fit. Need a drop bracket for the wiper motor though.

I bought the Best Top bracket, but made my own top from Herculite fabric. Did not have to drill any holes in my 73 Bronco. Top flaps at high speed. I sewed some straps on the top to keep it snug to the roll cage. But it still makes some noise at high speeds. Great when cruising around under 50 mph.
