Anyone Make a Third Center Brake Light......

...that looks like it would have been stock? How about the way the Jeep does a third center brake light over the spare?

I always thought when the car manufacturers started adding that center third brake light that it was a pretty good idea to avoid rear-enders.

Just a thought.

Around here that's usually the only brake light that works on cars. They should add a 4th.

I had a friend that integrated one from a mid '90s Blazer (full size, not S-10 size) hardtop many years ago and it looked great.

I was thinking about putting one inside the rear window on Frank's since he never takes the top off. But the spare is a more-logical place for it. Any red light you like will do - just run a wire directly off the BOO (R/BK wire) to the light, and then run a good ground back to the body.

My new harness has a wire dedicated for third brake light, so I'm definitely interested in the findings here. Also has a trunk light wire, so I'll put some small led dome light type fixtures on each side at the top rear of each quarter panel with a push button switch to operate them.

Part of being a classic is looking classic - start adding brake lights to make it look like other SUV's and Jeeps then you have a problem...

Do routine light inspections and you have nothing to worry about-

Where I live people look at their phones more than the roads while driving. If I could put strobes on it, I would. I never want to be rear ended.

I like classic stuff too, but unlike Kyle I also like the "updated" look in some cases when done cleanly. Especially with something that's proven to be a benefit like these have in my book.
Not sure the Jeep tire carrier light would be in my future, but I like the idea of an integrated one in the high back panel of the stock hard top. Looks like a perfect spot for one.
As long as it's not ugly...

Yeah, I'm not against tastefully done things either. I wasn't thinking hard top, but that would be the ticket there. Maybe something cool on a swinging tire gate or possibly as simple as a receiver plug/light as well.

The hard part about wiring it in on one of our types of rigs, would be that you have to run a dedicated circuit for it to be a brake-only light. Otherwise, it'll be going off every time you turn a blinker on.

I always liked the idea of the simple receiver plug, but never liked them in the real world. Just doesn't look right down that low no matter how cool the mechanics of it are.
And of course it's not as effective for what is needed to getting it up high and more visible, but it's just not looking cool in my opinion.
But it sure is convenient!

Should be some kind of relay deal available to only have the center light come on when BOTH brake lights are on

Just run a wire off the output of the brakelight switch on the pedal.

I know it's a Jeep thing but I thought the third light over spare was slick....

I put a third in my receiver hitch, dbl nice since it glows blue when the parking lights are on. Now as for not being "high enough", my truck is plenty high, where my receiver hitch sits above the hood on most cars.

Hi,
I modified my stock tire carrier to make it longer, modified a Heep spare tire carrier box to mount a Ford tire, installed the matching Heep 3rd brake light and wired it up. I works great. I had a 3rd brake light on the hard top before but I only run the hard top a few months a year which didn't help when my brake light was stored in the garage 9-10 months a year.

Wow - that weld-in thing looks pretty risky. Not just in getting the placement right so it's visible, but also smoothing out the welds, preventing rust, and the potential large water leak. ...to say nothing of the costs.

These are cheap & common in JYs, and can be easily sealed to the roof with their original gasket, or a new piece of foam, or RightStuff, or silicone.
