You can build a strong and fun 302 but you will never regret building a 351.
Torque is fun. Nobody ever goes on and on about how happy they are having pulled their 351 out and replaced it with a 302. I hope you will reconsider keeping the 351 build going. But as I said you "can" build a surprisingly strong 302....might get a little pricey if you want to make some serious power.
Low rpm torque is more fun in an early bronco though.

Have fun and build what "you" want brother.

Really sharp rig by the way.

Thanks for the compliments. I guess I am just unsure about the 351 I got. It is bored out .060. I'm worried about the buying the right parts and putting together. Just want to get the best bang for the buck I guess. Maybe I'll just maybe get someone to build the motor for me instead??

Understood....... .60 over is out there.
Lots of roller blocks in junk yards to consider. That's my next "big" project after the 4R70W.

95/96 351W roller block from the junk yard will be my next big purchase.

I was amazed at how much stronger my 351W was than my '73 302.

Good advicefrom bronconut73. Only regret I have in building my 351 was that I didn't stroke it out to 408...

I was kind of bored today so I went to the local pull a part to see what they have for motors since I think I still want to go with a 351w in the bronco. Seen one 95 e350 but did not know how many miles were on it and it looked rough also. Might just be better to find someone selling a van cheap and running that way I know how the motor is? Does this sound like a good plan? Dont like what I see in the local pull a part. Any other vehicles that have the good roller 351w in it? I seen on my local craigslist someone selling a 1990 f150 that says the 351w in it needs motor work like a head gasket. He is seling only for $600. Maybe something like this is what i need to be looking for

You can always find a non-roller block and add link-bar roller lifters and use any standard 5.0 & 5.8W roller cam. Google Ford Strokers and read about the issues with later 5.8w roller blocks. Ford Strokers doesn't look for the later blocks to build due to the issues with cracks in the cam bearing areas. He uses aftermarket blocks or earlier blocks which are easier to find. Just an option.

Thanks for the info. I just went on this site. If I am wanting to build my own 351/408, would suggest joining so i can access the videos?

I like my 408 non roller block engine. But if I had to do it again, I would go with a new aftermarket block. It's what the whole engine is built around. And you can go bigger cubes for the same money.

I'm assuming the blocks that ford strokers(dart) are after market. Is they're anywhere else to get a aftermarket block?

World and Dart. I believe they are available from Summit and Jegs. Maybe directly from the manufacturer. They are available with different deck heights for different cubes. I'd seriously look at them if you are going for big power.

I bought a short block off CL from a van with over 200K on it and it still ha cross hatching on the cylinder walls. EFI engines are WAAAAY easier on rings and bores than carb'd setups.
Check out this cylinder bore-

My machinist only needed to give it a quick hone and it was ready to go back together.

It's the 94-97 that are mostly rollers right. The older one are the better ones but not rollers right?

Ya - the difference is two threaded holes in the lifter valley. You can get the spider and dogbones from any roller 302 and you're golden.

took me three jy motors to get a good roller 351 last, one is real good as it was just rebuilt . The other two had cracked heads and broken bolt holes. so if you go that route get a guarantee that covers the unforeseen problems like the cam bearing crack you cannot see until the bearings are out . this is why the aftermarket pieces are popular but you can find good factory blocks just have to be careful

No, you can basically make any 351w block a roller by either having those holes added or just use link bar lifters. its just a way to keep the roller lifters from turning in their bores.

Yeah I know this. I was talking about the best 351 blocks or motors to get. Sorry.

As people have said, a lot of F4TE blocks have been found to have cracks and it took my builder 3 or 4 blocks to find a good one. That being said, I may lean towards an older block -
