Astro hydro boost pushrod attachment

I’ve read through a bunch of Astro boost stuff and can’t seem to find the answer I’m looking for.

Pretty simple question. I’m thinking I need to cut the loop off the boost pushrod and thread it for 3/8s fine thread. Other option is to shim the unit in between the angle bracket and boost unit. Pushing the unit forward until the loop lines up. But that seems wrong.

So if I’m cutting it and threading it, is it there a common length everyone cuts the pushrod to? Or just guess till it fits? But really what to make sure of is that folks are cutting and threading the rod. The rod is basically 3/8s so I’m guessing it’s the correct size. As the little forks threads are 3/8s fine.

Thanks

And I tried searching for a definitive answer, but couldn’t find a specific answer for a 90 through 93 Astro boost unit to angle bracket answer. And I’m not skilled enough to let myself make it up as I go along when brakes are involved.

I’m sure someone who has done it will chime in, but if it’s the right diameter to thread then I’m sure that’s the best option.

You’d prob want this:

That’s what came with my WH Hydroboost setup. Thread is 3/8 nf thread. Make sure you thread the same fine thread if you do this, I’d get this pushrod attachment first. No need to rush brakes.

Both of these tech articles reference lengthening the push rod.

The simple and Quick answer is there is a member here "CatFan" who has a eBay site where he sells a replacement pivot for Factory Ford angle bracket so the Astro van HB has nothing that has to be modified. Once you cut the HB unit it will not be accepted as a core...
If you don't have a Factory angle bracket, then he sells one that he makes that will fit either early or late EB inner fenders, and has the changed pivot in it.

I have used a number of his parts and recommend them... Doug

I believe the second link is the answer. The unit I pulled from the boneyard is questionable at best. Yes I could get a rebuild kit, but one power steering line was missing and open to the elements.

While I saw no signs of water doesn’t mean it didn’t get in there. And I live up in the frozen north of Minnesota. Very bad things happen when water is involved here.

So ya I didn’t really want to hack this thing up till I knew it was a good unit.

All drums. But I have a 76 44 and 77 9 inch laying on my garage floor. They will be going in at the same time. I do have the power brake angled bracket.

I think I’m just gonna rebuild the rear drums for now. I’m thinking 33s maybe 35s for tires. I bought a lift off a member in the mid 2000s but I can’t remember what the lift height was. I have sent an email to duff about the part numbers hopefully they can figure it out.
