Now to see if the brake light on the dash is out after the bleeding?
Yeap, it is still on. More brake bleeding I see in my future.

Yes, I have a sickness I am A R.

Here is what it looked like before I started....

I am Back with another issue...

I just drove my Bronco and the steering is heavy (no one finger turns) and I really have to push down on the pedal to stop the rig.
There is no launch me into the windshield stopping that I have experienced before with this system.

Steering is a rebuilt 4 turn box, plumbing is the same as I have used before with the factory steering reservoir.
The pump is the factory one from the wrecked motor, it could be tired?
The "Lee" fitting is from WH's which I have used before
Tires are 285/17 BFG's which = 32.5 in diameter.
If I didn't have the heavy steering, I would focus more on the HB rebuilt unit. But I am thinking this is a fluid issue.
Relatively certain I have plumbed everything correctly, same as I have done previously.

Looking for input, so I don't just changing parts chasing the problem.

Sure sounds like a pump issue to me. Only plumbing mistake I could imagine making would be the lines into/out of the steering box. H-boost requires pressure, not flow, so if pressure is lacking, then so is boost. Thus still leaning more towards the pump.

Just to play devils advocate against here, did you look closely at the fitting when you got it from us?
They have always been a very good part and the supplier very reliable, but that doesn’t mean that an odd one can’t get thrown in now and then.
If it’s not too much trouble maybe take the hose off and make sure the fitting is the correct full size with the larger opening.

You said it was the “Lee” fitting, but I don’t know that that’s where we get them. In fact I would have previously said otherwise.
But if you know from talking to others at the company that we do get them from Lee then I’ll go by that at least until I hear otherwise.

This is the one I bought, can't say that I looked at it real close and don't remember having any install issues like was discussed in another thread where the fitting was incorrect and caused the pressure relief to stay open. All something to check. Busy week with other activities non Bronco related, so I will get to it when I can and report back...
Appreciate all the responses - Doug.

Pulled the pump off, dropping it off today to get rebuilt. (Straight-line steering in SJ) Shop is soo busy that they said 3-4 days before they can start on it. They even asked if I was interested in a job as they are down on Staff! More later...

Is that power brake booster rebuilder that I think is really close to Straight Line still open?

Sounds pretty fast to me! The local steering shop here in the Phx area now takes MONTHs to get something rebuilt. I dropped off 2 Exploder pumps 3-4 weeks ago and haven't heard a peep yet...

Didn't look for them Paul, the area has a number of Pot stores and homeless folks hanging out. Parking was a premium, the place (Street) was packed with vehicles. Definitely locked up the Truck when I went inside the shop. Lots of signs about No loitering and No public bathrooms. About the only reason I go to this part of town anymore is for 2-3 Vendors and Sims metal recycling. Even the Pick and Pull wrecking yard that was cleared out has homeless folks on it!

Update:
Got the pump back and yes it had some issues inside. (about $200 to rebuild it)
They were happy with the bench test pressure out of the pump.
I installed and bleed it, noticeable improvement in steering response. Less brake foot pressure need to stop, but still not face in the windshield yet. More to play with there. But I cannot continue to do test drives up and down my Residential street with open exhaust. The Local Exhaust shop, who is really good, keeps pushing me out a "few" more weeks. Not a lot of options available unless I want to take a long trailer ride.
Another one of those Trades that new people are not filling as the "Old guys" leave. And when I say Old, I mean experienced, clean, and quality work.

So I guess I will report back when I get exhaust installed. Thinking another brake bleed and maybe remove the spacer and see if that changes anything.
After that, maybe the rebuilt HB unit needs to be looked at? I am open to suggestions...

Doug, do you have a wire feed welder (AKA MIG)? And a chop saw (hack saw will do in a pinch but much slower). Unfortunately I got the 'rona so I'm not going anywhere for a bit. Otherwise I'd come down and make you an exhaust. Just need a bunch of mandrel bends, some hangers and a muffler of choice.

This is what I did to connect the headers on my new engine to my existing muffler. Buncha parts from Summit. Fun project once you get your mind around it.

Believe me Lars, I have been considering this option, of making my own exhaust. I already have the Cat, the 19" x 2.25 dia. 3 chamber Flowmaster is easy to find, the hardest is the Y-pipe. I will get to that point, once I get all the little jobs done...

What tube diameters are you planning for in & out on the y pipe?

The wye piece visible in the photo I linked above is a Flowmaster part. In my case dual 2.5" into 3.5", but I'm helping a 408 breathe. Those would make no sense for your application but Flowmaster has some other options. Not cheap but they do make the job easy.

If I can be of help, let me know. Willing to travel.

Thank you for that offer Lars, I am Humbled... I am working on Hitch spacers and reinstalling the fuel tank that I resealed this weekend. Much like you, the predicted 100* temps this week make working the shop less desirable... I will let you know...
