autometer gauges, which ones?

I have been practicing with a 110V welder and now feel semi-proficient enough to try to make a few adjustments to my PO hacked up dash on my 68. I plan to move the glove box 2 1/4" to the left, remove the speaker grill, remove the radio hole (that looks like PO cut with a dull butter knife), remove the ash tray. I was thinking of relocating the three heater knobs/cables, plugging the left over holes with some 16 gauge, keep all of the critical switches in the same place as factory.. then start popping holes for the 2 5/8" autometer gauges I bought. I got the gauges a long time ago on sale; I bought an oil pressure gauge, engine temperature gauge, engine vacuum gauge and an amp gauge. I will likely replace the amp gauge with a volt gauge having now seen the ill of that choice. i already have a 6" tach on the column. My real question; sorry for theh length in getting to it is. What if any other gauge should I look to add? I think I could add 5 of the 2 5/8" gauges a little better than 4, look more symmetrical anyway and I really only planned on 4.

Considered fuel pressure, but dont want a mechanical fuel pressure gauge for safety reasons. is there another mechanical gauge anyone runs to help keep their 50 year old truck running strong?

I've given up on Autometer. ISSPRO is my gauge of choice now. You can get them with programmable warning lights, full sweep electric, made in the USA. For what a low quality imported big name gauge will cost. If you need they also offer them in a waterproof version. On my daily driver I have a transmission temp gauge with the external relay option for the cooler.

I plan to always run a manual transmission, is anyone running a tranny temp gauge with a manual trans? I like the air pressure gauge, running on board air myself. I could look at electric fuel pressure gauge with a good transducer sending the signal not fuel pressure lines runningbehind the dash.
With mechanical gauges out near the middle of the dash is anyone running angle rings to point them back to the driver a little? or is that just complicating things with little to no value?

Anything that helps you see the gauge without you having to take your eyes off the road is worth it...

What fuel gauge are you using? I have an auto meter fuel gauge that is no where near accurate.

I have the Ford Racing gauges. Autometer makes them with the correct ohms for the stock sending unit.
You need one with as close to 73 ohms empty and 10 ohms full as they offer.

I have an auto meter 73-10. I'm running the "Sherman tank" 23 gallon from wild horses. Maybe the float is tweaked.

I kept it pretty simple with the following Auto Meter Gauges:
- Speedo
- Fuel
- Coolant
- Oil Pressure
- Volts

The one i have thought about adding is the RPM, but i kinda like going off the engine sound instead since mine is Automatic

Is your fuel gauge accurate?

I have not confirmed it yet, because its been so hot that when the tank gets low it has been vapor locking.
Last time i was showing 1/4 left but only took 14 gal from what i remember.
Of course i am trying to check it by mileage as well, but that is not accurate because of the 35's...

To be determined still..

Bummer. Read this thread about the sending units in those tanks. You may need to drop the tank and take the sending unit out to adjust it: http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256279

Luckily the PO added a access cover from the back (behind rear seat) and i was able to match it pretty well that it is not an eye soar. That way if i have a fuel pump or sending unit issue i dont have to drop the tank every time..
