Autometer Oil Press guage doesnt work

Ok so I swapped in a 1990 Bronco 5.8, converted it to mustang EFI with RJM harness.
I have autometer electric guages, I originally tried using the stock sending units from the 5.8. Didnt work, found out I need the autometer sending units. Bought new ones and the water temp works fine now, but the Oil Pressure doesnt work at all. I even tried another autometer sending unit incase the new one was bad. Still doesnt work. Guage doesnt move at all.

I have the extension unit and the sender threaded in with No teflon tape, so it should be grounded fine. I did have to extend the wire from the RJM harness. Would the guage read anything if the wire I extended was not connected good enough? Or would it read intermittently?

Could it be the RJM Harness? Not meant for a guage, only idiot light?
What do you all think? Thanks.

Are you sure you have oil pressure? Take sender out and crank to see if oil comes shootin out.
Ground the wire momentarily and watch the gauge. If it moves toward high pressure the sender may be bad.

Well, I cant be 100% positive I have oil pressure, but the engine runs good, and strong. It was supposedly a ford crate motor with like 3000 miles on it. Of course thats what the PO said. I will try what you suggested tommorrow.

DT,

Have you tried bypassing the RJM harness with just a long piece of wire? That way you could determine whether or not the RJM harness is the problem.

we just got an autometer oil pressure gauge with a stuck needle, i dont think autometer is quite what they used to be. but i would definately verify with a manual gauge that you actually have oil pressure-you dont know what the PO did or did not do, then check the harness.

Ok bringing this back with an update.
Unfortunatly not a good one yet.
I did remove the sender unit and oil did flow out of the extension piece, so the engine does have some oil pressure.
I bypassed the RJM harness and wired the guage directly to the sender unit, still the guage reads nothing.
I am wondering if I damaged the guage when I hooked up the wrong sender unit?
I emailed autometer, waiting on a response. I think I'll be buying a new gauge either way though. Oh well now is the time to add the angled bevel rings so the guages point more at the driver anyway. Oh what fun.
