I’m thinking about installing 4:11 gears in my axels. I’ll have a stock transfer case, AX15 trans and 33 or 35” tires. I want to be comfortable going down the interstate at 75mph, but also want to keep it off road capable (nothing crazy but capable).

I’m sure there are others on here with a similar setup. I’d like to hear your opinions.

I would gear for about 2200-2300 RPM @ 60 MPH. 2000 RPM absolute lowest if you are in a place where you can really take advantage of it.
About as low as the original 302 will be efficient and happy. You can't get away with lugging this stuff under heavy load like modern powertrains can do.

I’m running 411 with 33’s and a built c4 and that’s just about right. With 35’s and the 5 speed I think you need at a minimum 456 and maybe 488. My 306 is quite happy spinning at 3000 (70mph) and I manage about 13-14 mpg on the highway.

do a search for gear ratio chart or diagram , then you will see tire sizes on the left and gear ratios on the top
