Backup Lights

Just putting the finishing touches on my centech harness install. Last two parts of the puzzle are the brake lights and backup lights.

My blinkers work, running lights work however my brake lights dont seem to work. I'm thinking its a bad switch. I'm going to just jumper the two wires together and see if the brakes light up. I'll report back on that...

My question is the backup lights. I have two grey wires in the engine compartment labeled bk switch 1 & bk switch 2. My documentation says these are the backup lights. The pigtail coming from my C4 has 4 wires. I've tried jumpering these two wires to all sorts of different combinations and never had any luck with the backup lights working. How do they work in that pigtail? Does the c4 pigtail provide a ground or something? If I join the two wires together should the backup lights come on? Just need some pointers to start troubleshooting. I'm hoping its just a ground for the light itself.

NSS is just a switch. It connects the red-blue wires together in park and neutral to interrupt the start signal. It also connects the black and white wires in reverse to turn on the reverse lights.

So if I just twist the two harness wires together the backup lights turn on and work fine. If I connect to the non-red/blue wires and put in reverse I get nothing. Could it be the switch in the C4 is broken?
