Balloon Chaser Ambulance called back into service......

I got a call on Saturday from my mother that I did not want to get.

I could tell she was very upset, but trying to keep her composure.

My dad had headed up near Harrisburg to look at some tooling for a lathe we got for my shop, and on his way home he started having chest pains. He pulled into the grocery store to go in and get a drink, but the pains got a bit worse, so he decided to try to make it home and called my mother. He made it about 4 miles from the house when the pain got worse, so he told her he was pulling into the school and to call 911.

She raced up to the school and got their just before the EMT's and they rushed him to the hospital.

Initially, they said they thought it was just indigestion and that they'd run some tests, keep him over night and he should be released Monday AM. It ended up the test came back and did show a blockage in his heart, so they ended up putting in a stent on Monday and he was able to be released today.

My mom called his buddies who he does restorations with and where we store our enclosed trailer with the Balloon Chaser Ambulance Bronco. Bob and Keith took the Ambulance up to pick him up for his ride home from the hospital.

I joked last year when my dad bought himself ambulance for his 70th birthday, but I just wish he did not try it out so soon!:(

Fortunately, this was a very mild heart attack with no damage, and easy fix, and hopefully a very quick and complete recovery to follow!:)

Here are a couple pics from earlier today....

Glad Dad (Don) was in tune with his "ticker" and didn't wait until the 'big one" and they found the problem and corrected it!!! Wonderful!!! I am sure the ride in the "Ambulance" home was great!!!

Yes, happy ending to a serious situation. Good thing Don recognized the signs and pulled over to wait for the EMTs. Please tell your dad our thoughts and prayers are with him and your mom. My father had 2 stents about 9 months ago and he is feeling great now.

On the other hand, pretty freakin awesome he was taken home in the Balloon Chaser Ambulance! How cool is that??!! ;D

Best wishes to you and your dad Drew, you are both wonderful people. I've been having chest pains lately myself, but I'm just hoping it's acid reflux.

Glad to hear this turned out OK and Don is doing well. Give him our thoughts and prayers, as well as to you and your mom. I know Bob loved taking the ambulance to the hospital to pick Don up. Those 2 are like a couple kids.

Drew, the way the story started, I thought you were gonna say that you or your mom rushed to his rescue by picking him up and hauling tail to the hospital with sirens blasting.......

It is a blessing that it was only a minor heart attack and not a major one. My prayers are with you and your family for a speedy recovery.

Glad to hear this serious situation had a positive ending. Props to your dad for recognizing the signs and taking the necessary action before it was too late. With that stent in place he's going to feel even better then before this cardiac event occurred..
